Blue Seal feed

The barn I'm moving to feeds Blue Seal. I have actually never heard of it, what are your thoughts? Is it a quality brand of feed that you would give to your horses?

Melody is currently on Purina Strategy. She does very well on it, we have had no trouble at all with her weight and energy level. If I do go with Blue Seal, what would be the best option that is closest to the nutrition that Strategy offers? If I should NOT put her on Blue Seal, what feed that is available in southeastern Maine SHOULD I use?

My horses are on Blue Seal. It's a very nice quality feed. I've never had a problem with it at all.

Blue Seal is a great company and offers a lot of quality feeds. We feed it, along with other products for certain horses.

Thanks, that's very reassuring Which feed would you recommend for a horse that is in fairly heavy training?

Yep, I saw that site, but I would like advice from people who know more about nutrition than I do

Well we have 2 horses in heavy barrel training who are hard to keep weight on and the 10/10 is very nice.

You've got Morgan's right huntseat?

They can be prone to IR. In general it's better for horses to be on low carb higher fat diets, especially horses who may be more prone to IR.

I personally feed the Carb Guard feed which is a low carb higher fat feed. It also has a lower protein level though(11%) . Depending on how much work your horses are doing you may want to feed "Hunter" which has a higher protein and a higher fat lower carb feed.

The Hunter is closest to Strategy in terms of nutrition and purpose. But it's definately not something I would recommend feeding.

The Carb-Guard (designed to be fed at high levels) and Min-a-Vite Lite (low feeding level) are the only two formulations that I would consider based on what I see from their website.
