Blue Eyed Horse Association

Have any of you heard of them? I was looking through Dreamhorse and it's on the list of breeds. I looked for them on the net and you have to go through a dog page to get to them. IS it really a registry? or is it someone trying to make one up?

They are trying to make their own registry - I actually know the people that own the ranch. They have a lot of blue eyed horses, and we even have one that a client of ours is leasing.

They are nice people, and they have some very nice horses.

Interesting. There seem to be a lot of small registries/associations cropping up based on color or markings.

I do like blue eyes though; they can be really striking .

Thanks. I did some more reading and I guess they really want to start to keep track of the blue eye lineage...

I also seen that on dream horse.

Shotgun, is any breed able to register with the Registry as long as they have blue eyes? Or is it a specific breed? Or simply just their horses?

Yep. They started having a lot of babies with blue eyes and wanted to trace the lineage of them. They work a lot with a lady who sends me a lot of her horses to train, who is really big into tracing andalusian lines and is president of the Azteca Horse Association. It's really interesting stuff.

That could be really interesting! Right now, outside of the Splash White horses, they aren't really sure about how blue eyes happen. Sometimes it is white going over the eye, but other times, horses just seem to have them.

Maybe if they can start tracing blue eyes, how they show up, and if two blue-eyed horses also produce blue eyes, it could be a really useful tool to find out more about the genetics of equine eye color.

They want really any horse with blue eyes that can be traced - so a horse that is registered so that the lines are known for sure.

It's really interesting. The horse that we have has half a blue on eye on his left side, but he is all brown around his eye. He is out of their paint lines.
