northern dancer is one of the 10 ten shires, hes amazing. He was from MD, and my grandfather was a pretty well-known person in the racing buisness(recnelty passed away last yr), and he met noterhtn dancer and acutally clipped him once before he came famous. Im pretty sure it was northern dancer, because i rmemeber my grandfather saying that he was small, and was only like 15-15.1hh!!

For people with thoroughbreds...all thoroughbreds can be traced back to 1 of 3 different stallions who started the thoroughbred line- Goldolphin Arabian, Byerley Turk, and Darley Arabian. If you go on that pedigree query site and take the furthest generation horse that its showing you and look up its pedigree, then keep doing that untill you reach back to the last horse, you can see which of those 3 lines your thoroughbred came from. I traced my horse to the Darley Arabian...just thought this was kindof a cool historical thing and thought I'd share wink
PS- With those of you with traceable thoroughbreds...which one of the 3 original stallions did yours come from?
