I'm posting this publically because I think this could help other people facing depression or help people who love someone with depression understand a bit better. Something I see a lot in riders is see-sawing...

See-sawing the horse down does not create a truely through horse - instead you will get a temporary false headset and as soon as the seesawing stops, the horse will hollow out and come up again anyway.

True roundess is acheived through Steady contact - with correctly applied half halts - which incorporate the entire body, not just the reins.

The biggest misconception people have about a "round"...

I strongly believe, no matter how good a coach is, you should not spend more then a few years with one trainer. No one person can teach you everything and everyone will teach you something - even if its what NOT to do.

It sounds like you've just outgrown each other - it doesn't mean she hasn't taught you a lot or isn't good at her job -so don't feel guilty about moving on - its all part of the natural progression of riding.

I have 2-3 students who I plan to move to...
