Blister's Weekend of Roping

Well, Blister had a LONG weekend. He's tired, but coming along great.

By the end of this weekend, Blister is looking to be more of a HEELING horse for a while. He is more of GOTTA SEE what is going on, not one to lead the way and then Check things out like a header.

Mike caught off of him both ways. When he would head, Blister would throw a FIT with the steer behind him. I mean BUCKING fit! So, he tried heeling for grins. Sure enough, no more bucking. Blister could see the steer in front of him, and could deal with going BACKWARDS on the rope with the steer in front of him (rear end). So, until he gets use to things, he'll be learning to be a heeler. Too bad I'm not a heeler. LOL But he did catch header and since Mike had a good heeler that one time, Blister only had to drag for a short time. So basically, If I plan on heading with him, my heeler better know what the heck they are doing, or I"m going Off! LMAO. Because once faced, he's perfectly fine. He has to SEE the steer, not hear it! LOL. Silly horse.

Anyways, he's doing good. He's in my paddock today. till this weekend. Then he's going to mike's for a while. I'll get back SOMETHING at the end of all of this. LOL

sounds like he wants to be a heelling horse. some horses just don't like things dragging behind them. for roping practice we would drag a jump pole behind us. that worked for my horse that didn't like much behind him. he got over that is a few drags.
