It's great that he's feeling so good... is he getting turned out at all? I really like to let them get their kinks out on turnout or on the lunge line. It's just an obedience under saddle thing. I know Blister is a more broke horse than most of the ones I ride, but when it comes to re-establishing obedience and proper bend and so on... I want them to know that when a rider's up, it's all business. Also, in my last post, I forgot to mention throwing in some counter bending. I'd throw in a couple counterbends on each circle at the lope, before he starts to fall in. It will work sort of like a half-halt to rebalance him laterally. Basically, just move both hands over towards the outside of the circle, and apply just a little bit of outside rein. Don't bring your inside hand across his withers though, or you'll end up flexing him to the inside. You can put a little outside leg on at the same time. It's just a quick move with the hands, bit of outside rein and leg, and then release and go back to bending onto the circle. He's going to go "Hmm, can't fall in, since she's going to make me move my ribcage both ways at any minute - better stay balanced and not try to cut corners!" An extension of this exercise would be to ride squares - 10 meter quarter circle, straighten out, and 10 meter quarter circle at the next corner and so on.

Both my horses live in a paddock. No stall. So it does help to be able to "get on and go" since they aren't locked away. Chris took him out. Not sure what all he did, but he finally got him going straight instead of "turning for home"..... Got katie Trotting without holding the horn.!!!!! YAY!!!!! And Sage is being a brat again. Lost a LOT of ground on her with saddling. Don't know why. But we are back to square one, after having lots of successful days of good saddling. So i'm trying a different method to get her to accept the saddles again.
