Blister Update week of 7/16/07...Good News Post #19

Well, if you didn't see the other update, I figured I'd start a new one because it is soo long and things are changing.

Tuesday we had a minor set back. Vet has been pulling the dex down, has pulled the lasix already, and he was doing great till around 11am Tuesday. (what is it with 11:00????)

He swelled up and he has added Pred and bumped the dex and brought the lasix back into the picture again. He was ALMOST off the dex. Down to 2cc. So we have made GREAT progress he said, as far as the drugs. No biggie he said on a minor relapse.... (well, better than his last set back)..

He expected and expects a few more before we are done, like someone had mentioned on the other thread.

Vet said today, he hasn't changed. I didn't go out tonight, had too many things to do....but if the vet says he's holding, we might have small changes that he isn't seeing right off....like last time.

So not much to update today, but I figured for those waiting patiently for a good news thread on him, don't have a GREAT one, but have at least a holding. And looking at his last set back, doesn't suprise me that it will take a few days to really show significant change.

I'm still praying for a full recovery for your horse. It's good to hear that he is holding and not getting worse. It sounds like he is in very competent hands.

I'm ok. Though I've made sure "arrangements" are still in place. If the worst happens. And I'm prepared, all around. I can "speak" about the worst now without feeling that emptiness of what if....And I've been considering it lately, because he's down right miserable. But he's eating and drinking. Just not enthusiastically.

But it could be the medicine in his grain that is causing his reluctance to eat....so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at this moment.

Soles and the edge of the hoof wall at the band look GREAT. **knock on wood** I'm watching for any signs of total destruction of the feet...because that too is a "limit" that I will put him through.

But, got through one class that I had a final during his bad episode....pulled a B in the course. Got one more next week to take....and that will finish me for this summer. Work is hot, miserable, and lots of cotton and corn plants as far as I can see.

It's great news to hear that he is holding on. Much better then to hear that he isn't doing so well. I'm thinking of you guys down there. Your in my prayers.
