Blister update

Well, not much "improvement".....

We've now got one nasty size pocket over and below his hip that we are hoping to work down to the current stifle opening.....his belly abcess/edema had dissappeared some...and his shoulder is now "progressing" even further to where the abcess has begun to soften (it hardens into this MASS first...then liquifies ....this is a weird disease to say the least....)

So today, before the snow hits us again, he's getting a full bath, top to bottom and 3 lances. One between his front legs where one has "settled" and not letting up....his shoulder will get at least one.....and his stifle might be the 3rd lance....if it isn't still open (basically, first rip the scab open, scrub it down type stuff)

then drain most everything we can. Try to get mister sideways hunchback down to looking like a normal horse again.

I've got pics from yesterday once I find the camera......

BUT, he's still alive and kickin.

Yay for some improvement at least! Even if it is just a little bit...Poor Blister, sounds like he's being a trooper. Good to hear that his shoulder is getting a bit better, I just can't believe how strange that disease is either! I'd never heard of it before except for on here. How fast did he start getting edema on the rest of his body after his shoulder started? I think I missed that thread...

Anxiously awaiting pictures!

That disease as a whole is just odd. I never really knew much about it, until reading about it here. Im praying for Blister, and hoping he gets better!

Glad to hear he's holding up. Have you managed to put any weight on him? Or at least is he holding steady weight wise?

Wow, this whole PF thing is making Tom's Stromal Abcess feel like a walk in the park.

I'm glad he's holding steady, sooner or later you will get him drained out--hopefully sooner!

Well, after a very COLD bath......I now have a clean horse.

Closer inspection, his hip is actually great. might have some, but not enough to lance....his stifle is sealing up and no signs of anymore "hip" area yuck to worry about.

Squished around the one between the legs, and I think that one is draining the shoulder. Lanced the shoulder, NADA. But.....there is now a weakness for it to come to. Lanced between the legs, got something, not sure but at least that now is weak.

As for weight.....we haven't been getting what we are supposed to be getting. So we are working on other arraingements since the BO and Son are in danger when they go to split the two horses up, knowing there is food involved. Blister can't move fast enough and was going to get hurt trying to get out of the pen with the other horse...if not the Bo.

So I'm going out myself to do it....till we can move horses around.
