Unhappy Blaze was BAD!!!!

Blaze was a bad boy today . He normally has no problems with mares being around, but today he did. The arena had lots of horses in it today and I was riding him along side a gelding and he was doing fine. There was one mare in the pen and he was ignoring her.

Then my mom brought Shadow in and put my brother on. Well Bryce does not know how to ride and Shadow stopped. Well Shadow always bites & kicks at Blaze letting him know she is BOSS. Well I went to go help him out and the worst thing happened Blaze went up. Shoadow started teasing him without any signs of being in heat (or I would have stayed away) and I only had a normal snaffle . He tried to mount sideways and got Bryce in the stomach. I pulled back so hard that Blaze bleed (bad me). Everyone came out alright. I had decided to take the english saddle and that was a good thing, cause it was easy to slide out of.

So now I am going to have to use my jointed kimberwicke, and i didn't want to have to do that.

Then the stupidest thing of all, the owner's wife yelled at me for telling Blaze that he was bad . I smacked him with the crop in his p****s so he would pull it back in, and she told me I had no right to do that.

Now she shows and they own a stallion that they do not ride. But why would you tell someone not to make there stallion pull in his thing when he is tacked? Why was I wrong for making him behave? I never smacked him anywhere else, I just told him he was bad. Is that wrong?

Omg..thats crazy! Im glad your ok..what these horses to do us sometimes.. I would of been scared if my horse tried to mount another horse while im on it! I think you smacking him with a crop is ok but not on his thing.. iw ould of done it on his butt.. I mean it depends how hard you hit him too..

If you tell him he is bad tahts ok, because that is unacceptable!

I tried hitting him in the butt it was to late and i couldn't pull him down without pulling my brother off with him. My crop was penned in between the two until he went up. I hit him in the thing after I got off to make him pull back in. I did not him hard just hard enough that he knew I ment business. He didn't scare me when he went up, but he scared the c**p out of my brother (10 year old).

*Waves* Hey you. Hmm I dont see anything wrong with telling him bad. Its just another word like No.
On the entire dropping part. Ive met people whom would have a complete heart attack if thier horse dropped in public. And Ive seen several people give a tap and a command to Put it away.
Manners are manners, and he will learn when and where it is acceptable. But I dont think Id change bits yet. Ill call ya in awhile and toss some ideas your way ok..

My girlfriend rides a very well behaved stallion, you normally wouldn't believe her, and a lot of people look for the fuzzy plums to make sure But if he 'puts it out there' while under tack, he gets a couple of taps on it with the crop-not smacks, but light taps and is told to put it away. It seems to work quite well.

Thanks guys. I didn't think that telling him NO was bad. I don't know why the owner said it was and she has been around horses for a long time.

I would've yelled back at the owner, telling her she has no right to yell at you when you AND your brother were in danger. You had to do something.
I'm glad you're okay though!
