Billets too long

well. i got a dressage saddle, yada yada, got my saddle pad, etc Now I know the billets are supposed to be long, but for me they are almost too long, if I pulled them down across her bellie they would nearly touch each other, maybe an inch of clearance between them

i borrows my riding buddy's girth 22-24" I didnt measure and i managed to tuck some of the billet into a slip on it but it still looped out like P I'm pretty sure its because Poco is a pony and lets face it, most dressage saddles are made for larger horses, but is there something i can do? im going to the saddler on Sat to see if he could possibly shorten them for me by like 3-5 inches each... or would that be a rash decision, and I mean shorten the nylon parts not the actual leather piece, or would shortening the leather piece be a better idea?

Well, for resale...that might not be a good idea.

I will probably have the same problem, Tiffany is 14hh and I bet the straps will just about touch under her belly too.

I am looking for a specific girth to show you...hold on.

Here is one -

See how it has two sets of keepers on it? Is that how the one you were using was made?

no, it was just the buckels one set of keepers and down about an inch or two there was something that i could slide them into, but I had too much billet left over for them to slide all the way in. otherwise like in the picture above it would go through the keepers then about maybe 3-5 inches would be hanging out and down.
