Flysect w/ Citronella does wonders for the really bad fly seasons. I also like Deo-Lotion, Duraguard (not keen on the smell), Marigold (doesn't last long at all, but has a lovely smell and great for using in b/t as it's natural, currently I'm going back to Absorbine Ultrashield which is sweat resistant, has a good smell, and lasts (also has conditioners and sunscreen which is a plus!

Martin's 10% permethrin-concentrated, cheap, and works as well as any economical spray for pasture use.

Otherwise, Bronco.

I used to use Supershield Green-prefer the natural sprays- but I can't find the concentrate anymore, and it was the cheapest I found that works.

the name says it all. it has a horrible smell and you shouldnt get it in your eyes or lungs too much..but the fly stay away for about a week..very concentrated..only need a few drops to water.

I really like Endure. I used to buy Bronco and it was just like throwing money out the window.

I have heard good things about Konk though too before, so am going to try and get that to compare with the Endure. Not sure where to buy Konk though. I will have to check online.

I have tried everything and the best seems to be piranha wipe and spray mixed with 10% permithrin concentrate double dosed with SSS and a little vinegar. I left my guys out 24 hours straight and wished I didnt. They have welts all over them from the dang flies. They seem super super bad this year. I have gone through gallons of fly spray already this year where last year I didnt go through (2) 32oz bottles of repel-x.

I do save the piranha or Ultrashield for when the farrier comes. I call those ($20 a bottle) "Dont kill the farrier" sprays.

I use Final Fly-T. Purchase at our local Runnings farm store for about $30/gallon. I noticed today that the price has come down. We had paid up to $32/gallon. I figured it would keep going up so I bought a couple of gallons. Just my luck - the price goes down.

This spray works the best of all the many we've tried over the years. Always seem to keep going back to Final Fly-T. It repels ticks as well as the flys. But, as someone else mentioned, nothing is perfect.

Our farm store always seems to be out of this spray while the shelves are loaded with Bronco and other cheaper brands that are like spraying water on the horse. I guess people think that they are getting more for their money, but in the long run they are just throwing it away.

Endure. It works well. I have also heard that if you give garlic supplements that is suppose to work well after a couple of weeks. I have a friend who has quite expensive morgans and she swears by it.

My horse had a reaction to pyranna. Her skin sloughed off and in one spot it looks like hamburger. Poor thing. I have had luck with Zonk It. Also I have a bunch of fly traps from Victor. They work extremely well. The first quart container I put out last week is nearly full of flies!! Disgusting, but boy did it make a difference.

Also my order of Fly Predators is on its way. That should help the situation as well. I would really like to go poison free this year.
