Best Breed

I'm looking at getting a horse for eventing, and I was just wondering what the best breed for it would be. Everyone tells me that thoroughbreds are, and I know most of the big eventers are thoroughbreds. But then I've heard that Akhal-Teke's(sp?) were great too, but they never get the chance because they can be pricey and they have that attitude when you first get them that you have to put up with. I wouldnt mind that attitude and love the breed, but keep hearing that it would be a bad choice and if I want to be good at eventing to get a thoroughbred. So what do you think would be the best breed, or is there another one that would be good.

Mine/ they have the size & bone & stamina & attitude to make good all-around horse. (*depending on type; eg Furioso/ NorthStar bred is lighter than Nonius.) There are several different types, ranging from light to heavy, carriage, cart & draft.

I guess in general you'll find that most of the eventers, or at least a good amount, are TB's, but any breed can do it. When you're looking at a horse for eventing, unless you're really stuck on one breed, then don't even look at the breed, and go with the best horse for eventing, with the best confo, health, jump, etc.

The only problem is my dad dosnt want to spend a ton of money or spend lots of time lookin for a great horse. He said that we'd go look at some OTTB and a few of whatever breed I chose, but not a ton.
