| Senior Member+ | Benefits of Bell Boots Does anyone turn their horse out with bell boots on? Why? Ride with them? Why? Keep them on in the stall? Why? Thanks!

| Senior Member+ | I use bell boots on Romeo pretty much whenever I pull him out of his stall. Romeo is a big goon and it seems that whenever I leave the bell boots off he manages to clip/cut himself in one way or another. He's not an overreacher by any means but he's lazy and isn't always careful with his feet. So he trips with some regularity |

| Senior Member+ | Bob has a lot of support on his shoes, so he must wear bell boots when he is turned out. Even then, he still manages to pull them occassionally, so i also duct tape the heck out of his feet! lol i have to use the pull on ones, as the little snot will pull off the velcro ones... usually ruining them in the process. I have probably 12 individual bell boots that don't match another, most with only part of the velcro still attached.

| Senior Member+ | if Boots was shod he would need to be turned out in bell boots because he tends to overreach. I've had to do it before, its not really a big deal.

| Senior Member+ | I ride in them sometimes, on my reiner. Just so that when we're spinning, rollbacking or stopping he doesn't accidentally get himself in the back of his foot. We don't want him to get himself while he is spinning and discouraging him from turning around because that wouldn't be good for reining ahah. I'd put them on a horse that was an overreacter as well. And I'm sure there are other reasons. But our pleasure horses at the barn don't wear bell boots. Just the reiners once and awhile.

| Senior Member+ | In my 20yrs of horse ownership, I have never needed them. I can see using them to trailer a horse, or to cover the coronary band if there's an injury. But if you're using them because of 'overreaching', then you're not addressing the real problem-90% of the time your horse has a tight shoulder, and if you simply had a MT work on the horse once or twice, or rubbed some liniment on it-the problem would be gone.
