Thanks he does, doesn't he? He SEEMS happy to be back with me. He comes when I call and this morning he got all excited when I pulled in the driveway that runs along his paddock. He did a lovely rollback, did a half rear, squealed and trotted up to the gate to wait for me.

Good to hear you got him back and TG she handed him over to a rescue. Did she just not have the money to feed him or what?

Honestly I do not know. She has/had several horses. Most that I have seen pics of have been in decent shape. She handed over Rod almost dead and with him a gorgeous little yearling tobiano colt who was also in very bad shape, though not as bad as Rod. She claimed Rod was just too hard of a keeper and she was unable to keep weight on him. *shrug* I know he has been a hard keeper in the past but this progress we have seen here....he has been on pasture, hay, a vitamin supplement and CortaFlex for over a month and is gaining weight like crazy. Heck maybe my friends are right, maybe he just wanted to come home and being back with me is why he is doing so good.

Also a similar situation. I sold my horse to a "friend" with the condition that I get first crack at getting him back if they ever want to sell him. I bought him when he was four, off the track, and sold him to them when he was 19.

Four years later I got the call. "come get him or he's going to the sale"
What I found made me ball my eyes out. Sorry I don't have more pics of his condition. But I think this one will get the idea across.

WOW....didn't realize it was so big..sorry

It has taken me and a very awesome group of people nearly two years, but we have a success story...and pics.
This is a comparison pic

and here is a full body shot

He will be 26 next month and I just put shoes back on him and rode him for the first time in almost 7 years. It was joyous.

Your stories touch my heart so deeply and yet sadden me beyond words that there are people out there, people whom we trust, who can take our loved ones and treat them so dispicably.

God Bless you and all like you.
