This is my newest baby, my 4 yr old Quarter Horse, Angus.
We have had him now for 6 months, and we got him riddled with worms and scrawny and this may sound awful, but he was pretty ugly. The people left him at a rescue nearby because 'he was unridable' and they didn't want him. I found out that it was just his back that hurt a lot, and they had no knowledge on how to train a young horse, and they road him in a Hackamore, Tie-down, and a Bit. The confused him so much. But now he is perfect walk trot, needs balancing work at the canter, and is jumping small fences. He is such a good boy my 6 yr old sister can ride him. I love him to death!

Before (about 1 month after we got him):

Now:

My AQHA gelding was a near-founder rescue, like Curly.

He had not been ridden in EIGHT YEARS or more, and was 16 years old. He had to relearn everything; from learning to stand tied like a gentleman to riding of course.

Midway through September or so, and MUCH thinner and more muscled.

Early spring and working on dressage...

Semi-recent, off with an injury (urgh!)

Amazing before and after shots...I think you all can give yourselves a pat on the back for all the hard work and love you have put into these horses. You gave them their lives back and I am sure they are forever greatful.

Double darn I wish I could post pictures of my Paso Fino mare Darby rescued in April at an auction for $25.00. Body score of 1, nasty wormy hair.....she's come a long way. We're working on her topline and she does have a hip injury but she can gait now; when I got her she could hardly walk. I love to see these pictures makes it all worth it! (Ok I uploaded pictures but I can't figure out how to post here, help if you click on images on the left you can see her pictures)

Mercy, old pregnant pony I got at an auction for $50. She's great with kids. I didn't know she was in foal when I got her.

The day the colt was born

Only one month later

They look even better now. He's being weaned this week.

I've posted these in other threads, but what the heck, here she is again.

The day I picked her up. April 27 2009

These were taken in July just three months later

and the end of August, after 6 weeks on straight pasture. She is now on a diet...LOLOL.

WOW colormyworld! you did so good by her!she really looks good! I can't believe you got her fattened up so fast! I was giving my mare, who wasn't quite as skinny as yours when you got her but, pretty close, about 20lbs of feed a day. And she never did gain weight that fast. Yes I did worm her.
Good job!
