Before and After Pics

My 8 yr old Paint Gelding wintered VERY well this past winter, and was a bit of a tubby boy when spring rolled around. Here he is about 6-8 weeks ago, waiting for the shoer.

and here he is now. Yeah he's dirty, I just took the saddle off when I took this pic. (and stepping on a rake...eeeeks)

I bought one of those "Natural Ride" bareback pads and it has done wonders for getting me off my butt and back into the saddle. My conventional western saddle is hand made and weighs in at 40-45 lbs and is a ****** to lug around and get up on him. The natural ride make things so easy that I have done a ton more "spur of the moment" riding. I think you can tell in Diamonds new svelt build.
There are alot of hills and climbs where I ride and he has really shaped up.
I wish the riding took the weight off of me as easily as it does him.

He looks great though. Gotta love good trails, makes a world of difference and it is a ton more fun that lunging and arena work all the time!!

Thanks everyone. He really is a fun guy. There are alot of orchards in my area, and with the orchardists permission, me and my friend play "Hide and Seek" with our horses in them. They really seem to love it and it helps them work on being away from their buddies. As you can probably tell, he is not a show pony and has had maybe one bath since I bought him (5 years ago) He loves water crossings but not water showers.
