*~*~*~Bay Colt - Please Critique!~*~*~*

I am interested in possibly buying another horse soon-ish. I found him, and I really like him. I e-mailed his owner, and this is what she wrote back:

The colt you refer to is an excellent young man. He is dark bay as you can see in his photo. He will mature to about 16(+)hh. and will excel in any discipline that he is trained for. He has been pasture raised with his same age siblings and loves to graze and play with the others. Being not quite 1year old, he hasn't aquired much training. He halters, leads very nicely (and is respectful of his handler), ties, bathes, has fis feet trimmed loads and trailers. His health is excellent and his worming and vaccinations including West Nile are up to date.

She also said that she had another horse that was less expensive that I may be interested in, but I don't have info on that horse yet.

Anyway, I would really like if you guys would critique him, and tell me about how much you would pay for him. Thanks so much

~ Cara

The first three pictures are of the Him. The 4'th pix of the bay stallion is his sire, and the last pix is of a mare that has the same mom as the colt.

Woops, the 5th pix is of the stallion, and the 4th is of the mare with the same mom. Sorry.

Cant say too much about his conformation as hes still at a growing stage. I did noticed that his topline is a little jarred near his loins, though. Its a bit too bulky right above the hip. Also, his back legs are too far under him in the still shot. This does a number of things: 1) Causes harder compressions in the hocks and pasterns 2) Causes horses to use less drive in their hind 3) can make them favor the forehand 4) can sometimes make them a bumpier ride since they will tend to thrust upwards instead of driving. Hope i helped.

What kind of horses are these?
I don't like the back of the dam, but the sire is beautiful. Are they mustangs?

The colt is beautiful. Lucky for him he looks like his daddy!!

Yes I agree, I'm not to keen on the mares back either. Otherwise I really like him. What a gorgeous face!

He really does take after his dad. You can see it in his body type. I'd do a lot of conformational comparisons to that and he's really quite stunning. At his age he's probably going through that awkward stage but I still think he looks nice
