BARRACUDA Hoof Trimmer?

Has anyone tried these before?

http://www.hooftrimmer.org/index.html

My hands are small and one of my wrists is a bit weak due to an old sprain so I was looking into different options that might make learning to trim a bit easier on me.

I've never seen that before.

I rarely if ever use nippers on hooves that I trim regularly though. So wouldn't be something I'd personally invest in.

They look interesting and I like the idea of a truly flat cut (less room for me to mess up). The only thing that concerns me is that they don't list their price.

Another compound nipper out there is the Bud Nipper. I know a few people with these and they absolutely love them.

Don't forget to ask how much the replacement blades are. I would also be interested in knowing what the blades are made of and pictures, to see if it is something that would only last a few trims or more.

Yup, my thoughts exactly! Here's what I sent:

Hi Brenda. I'm interested in this hoof trimmer. Can you tell me how much it costs and how much the replacement blades are? Can the blades be sharpened? Where can the replacement blades be purchased?

I am a horse owner and I trim my horses myself.

Thanks!

See if you can get a pic of the blades too. If they are something like razor blades then I would think they wouldn't last long and would break easy. If they are thicker then I think they would last longer and be better for thick hooves. A pic would says a thousand words since you are talking to someone that wants to sell their product and is less likely to tell you the weak points.

Here's what I got back:

Quote:
Thank you for your inquiry about the Barracuda Hoof Trimmer!
The price of the Barracuda Hoof Trimmer is $95 plus shipping/handling of $25, if mailed in the Continental U.S., for a total investment of $120. The Barracuda comes with Chisel tip replacement blades already pre-installed, and is included in the purchase price of the trimmer.

Additional replacement blades cost $20 plus shipping/handling of $5, if mailed in the Continental U.S. The shipping/handling fee for the additional blades is waived if ordered with the trimmer.

We have two different types of blades:

1) The Chisel tip which comes with the Barracuda - this is a universal blade designed for trimming a wide variety of hoofed animals, from drafts to miniatures to donkeys and goats.

2) The Sharp tip replacement blade is an aggressive blade that cuts extremely sharp and flat, and was designed with a very hard hoof in mind.

The blades are designed to be replaced, so you will never be without a trimmer, as long as you have an extra set of replacement blades on hand! They are nice to have on hand. The blades are very sharp - I'm not sure I would recommend sharpening them as they dull - they are designed to be replaced, and you can order through us.

Please let us know if you would like to place an order, along with your name & address for shipping.

We currently accept personal checks, cashier's checks, or U.S. Money Orders, made payable to Innovative Concepts, LLC. Due to high demand, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery once payment is received.
