**BIG PRAYERS** HOpefully they will give thme the time to tag thier halters and at least set them loose.. From what I hear it can be a successful way of saving them.. BUt if they hold onto them til alt minut,e the horses may not have enough time to run away.. its a tough situation to be in I assume.

Please keep us updated.. i wont be able to sleep now..

Hi everyone. I just got back to my house, it's now almost 3 AM.

Just wanted to pop in and say we got all the horses out and all the tack and all the horses were okay. The fire is spreading and the wind is picking up. Please continue praying. I'll update more in the morning, I am exhausted.

Thank you Mindy for making this.

Thank you everyone for all the kind wishes.

Erika

Glad to hear the horses are out. I know first-hand how terrifying barn fires can be.
Will continue to hold good thoughts.

Okay, now I am up for the morning and thinking a little bit more clearly.

Around ten a friend from another barn texted me and asked if we were evacuating the barn yet.. I had no idea that there even was a fire, so I was like, um what?

So I was IM'ing the barn owner, and she reassured me that it was really far away and that we were totally out of the way and fine.

So, I get a call from a barn friend who says, 'Erika, I'm watching the fire out of my big upstairs window, and it's moving and getting larger. Get Erin to go down and look at it.'

So I harass the barn owner into driving a little bit down her street to see if she can see the fire, and what she thinks. A few minutes later I get a call that says, 'We are leaving, get up here NOW.' That was at around 10:30.

So I get up there with my mom and step-dad, and we are told to just grab all the tack and get everything worth anything out of the tack trunks. We also grab blankets. Luckily we have a beast of a car, plus my friend's dad's car.

So I started helping load, luckily ALL of our horses stepped right on to the trailer; and remained calm.

So the first trailer load of horses heads off and we follow them to the polo fields, and make sure our horses get off okay, and the trailer people know where to go. We start putting horses into the stalls that are set up for us, and filling water buckets and spreading shavings.

So basically we were waiting and waiting in the car for over an hour for the second set of trailers to come. We find out that the fire department is up at our barn and they are trying to close the only road that goes down from the barn.

Finally the trailers arrive, and we get all the horses unloaded and set up.

We then got to go home!! It was 3 ish at the time. People were texting me until about 5:30; so I was very, very tired! I got up around 8, and now I'm just waiting for updates.

Thank you all again for all the prayers and well wishes!

Goodness that was such a scare. I'm so glad that everyone is okay. My fingers are crossed that the barn is still standing.

Mine too. My step dad says they can't put it out yet, and they're hoping it doesn't move in the afternoon. If it moves, it moves toward our barn most likely.
