Well. Here's a picture of a somewhat long mane being banded. Well...diamond banding.


I think it looks cool, but I don't know for a show....

Isn't it also called a macrame braid?

Those things are fun to do, take quite a while though lol

Yeah, I would band it long. But in the poll I put cut it, because that's what I would do and that's what you were asking in the poll. But band it and show us some pics!
I have to cut Shadow's mane. Since he's an appy he's a bit...um...lacking in the mane department. And if I let it grow out (tried it over the winter) It has these nasty clumps of long straggly hairs. Oh well. I don't think I could ban his either.

I don't honestly know. I never liked the look of a long mane banded, so all my horses are chopped short. Fancy's mane is still too long for my liking. If it looks good on him, then go for it. And who knows, if you do end up cutting it you may like it.
