I've never tried to give my horse bananas. I had to shove a carrot in his mouth when I first got him because he didn't even know what it was. Then I was eating watermelon one day and he took a big ol bite out of it.

Banana's have so many healing properties in them...here are a few.
Good for anemia...they have vitamin B, B6, B12.
constipation...they are high in fibre.
Anti-inflammatory
rich in potassium and high in energy
Contain high levels of phospholipids that can help line the stomach and protect against gastric ulcers.

If your horse doesn't like them, introduce them in the feed very slowely, to get them used to the taste.

my horse doesn't like bananas, but he loves red grapes which i use to help him stay hydrated at events on hot days when he is less inclined to drink enough. He can be very picky though. He loves the candy, Smarties except for the white ones. you give him a handful and he will spit out all of the white ones and then eat the rest
he also loves peanutbutter sandwiches though i did not introduce those on purpose... one of the people working at the barn was mowing the field next to Zephyr and put her sandwich about 2 feet on her side of the fence wrapped in a plastic sandwich bag, when she was on the other side of the field he lay down flat on his side next to the fence and squirmed as close as he could and reached through and grabbed the bag. He somehow managed to open the bag and get the sandwich. The woman mowing looked over just in time to see zephyr snort the bag off his nose. When she went over all she found of her sandwich was some peanut butter on his lips and his tongue. zephyr even had the nerve to ask for more
Then there was another time where a kid put there homework on a shelf next to his stall. He reached out and ate it. The owner of the barn had to write a note to his teacher explaining that a horse really DID eat his homework

Grapes cause kidney failure in dogs, are they safe for horses?

they are if you don't give them too much
as i said, i only give them on really hot days at events because it is a way that i am able to help hydrate him as he is not always the best drinker.
