do you have a good trainer? if so - lunge lessons!!! I love taking lunge lessons to this day! They're great for helping you focus on yourself, to be more aware of your body and to develop your seat and aids, and yes, your balance.

good luck!

heels down, ride bareback, ride bareback, and ride bareback! Best thing i ever did, and move with your horse, watch your horse move, don't let your hips just "sit' move them with the horse...oh and ride bareback

Balance overall? Do you have trouble walking? I'm sorry, I'm just all in a tizzy from the Breeding Forum

What sort of issues are you having, really? Are the JUST on horseback? Which gaits - all of them? If your issue a front/back balance, as in you tend to lean forward too much, or do you have trouble staying in the middle of the saddle, side to side?

If you can explain more, that would help, as depending on what the issue is there might be different answers.

Often a balance problem comes from lack of total body awareness, so much of this can be addressed in exercises off the horse. Some you just have to get in the saddle and ride as the balance issue is related to the motion of the horse.

lol so do i, just practice, not even on the horse, just watch tv in your saddle, you need to build those muscles on your back for the best posture

I believe that most rider balance issues are due to tense hips.

Ride without stirrups on the lunge, hold onto the pommel of the saddle to help with balance as you don't want to be balancing on the reins.

Concentrate on opening your hips up, and just let your leg hang - no gripping. Once you learn to 'open' your hips up and let them 'relax' you will find your balance.

Open hips allow for a deep seat and no gripping of the knees, which in turn gives you balance...other than that, lots of lessons and practise makes perfect
