She's definitely more balanced at the walk. Maybe not perfectly, but it's more balanced. She will walk straight.

Yes, she's the pregnant one. I don't think it's changed since she hasn't been pregnant, though.

Exactly. I can try to get a video today.

It will be harder to work on her balance issues while she is pregnant.

That's true. Never thought about that. Thanks for the tip.

She's only 3 months along, right? I seem to recall that from the "is she fat" thread. The fetus is not affecting her balance at this point.

Can you describe what you are doing when you ask her to trot on a circle?

It will affect her as she progress in her pregnancy. The fat of course doesn't help matters as it is presently.

Is she falling in at the shoulder or drifting out?

Where is her hindfeet landing or is she swinging the hindquaters?

Is she stiff/resistant/tense through the back and body?

Is she resistant more on the left or right rein. Is the resistance at the mouth? jaw? poll?

How much leg to rein ratio are you using?

Do you use a whip as an aid to help reinforce the leg?

Is she going forward?

Are you centred on your seatbones while aligned in the body and timing all aids to the horses movements?

Some of these details may help us out as well

Right, but *now*, when goon is working on this, it isn't a player

For the health of the horse, I agree. But, there are plenty of obese horses (not that this one is obese) who can balance just fine

Yes, she's 3 months along.

When I ask for the circle. I use a bit more pressure with my inside leg. I slide my outside leg back a bit and add more pressure (this is what I read you're supposed to do, not sure it's right. ). I've been working with her, trying to use my outside rein, but I don't know exactly how to teach her. So I use a bit of outside rein, and when she really starts to drift, I use my inside rein to bring her back. I have no idea if that's what I should be doing or not.

She doesn't want to go in a circle, probably because it's harder, so most of the time she ends up going in sort of a "kidney bean" shaped "circle", because the paddock is a pretty strong magnet for her. She bows in towards the paddock, and then bows out as we come around, if that makes any sense.

Both I guess. See my last paragraph
Quote:

I'm not sure. I guess I haven't paid much attention. You be able to see on the video when I get someone to take it.

Quote:

Sometimes, but a lot of the time, she puts her head way down, and actually put her nose behind the vertical. That's mostly when she really, really doesn't want to go in a circle.

Quote:

I haven't noticed she's better or worse on one particular side. I guess maybe you'll see from the video on the other questions, because once again, I'm not sure.

Quote:

I try to use more leg than rein (is that what I'm supposed to do?).
Quote:
Do you use a whip as an aid to help reinforce the leg?
No

Quote:
Is she going forward?
Not sure what you mean by this.

Quote:

Reply to the bolded part: I try. For the non bolded part: Once again, I'm not sure what you mean by this.

As I've said before, I've never really had any lessons, so I try to learn from what I read. I haven't learned a lot of the stuff that people who are blessed with instructors know.
