| Full Member | Definately start looking for a cause. But as far as treatment, I soak with epsom salts 15-20 mins each foot then treat with kopertox. I haven't had a battle with thrush that it hasn't eliminated, along with eliminating the cause!

Treatment only goes so far, as others have said you need to find the cause. IMO the best treatment I have ever used is bee propolis. It's a liquid you can find in the health section of your grocery or health store. It doesn't take much and it seals the foot. It's both an antibacterial and an antifungal so it will cure any type of thrush (temporarily if you have a physical reason for the thrush). You can also use this if you can't find the straight propolis: http://www.thrushcrush.com/ ACC |

i did post some pics of his hooves on the first page with the links.. he gets one scoop of 12% grain i think its 12% or either 14% ill check tommorrow. then he gets 1 little scoop of cosaquine(joints) 1 scoop and a little more of strogen(wormer) and then 1 scoop of platnuim performence(elctrolites, and coat shine and other helpful things are in it too) *cant think of them at the moment* |

12% or 14% just tells the protien content of whatever the product might be. An ingredient listing and amount being fed is most helpful as well as the nutritional analysis. I forgot about the photos, sorry. As I said before, based on these photos, it appears as though the hoof form could very well be a factor in the thrush. But more photos and different angles would tell a better story. |

Personally I would just take his shoes off. A lot of people are against that, but really it is much healthier for horses and it makes for happier horse. Depending on the terrain your horse is living in or how often he is worked, leads to how often his feet needs to be trimmed. Went the shoes were taking off of a horse at my stable he seemed to turn into a completely happier horse. [:
