bad scar

If you were looking at a horse with a scar like this what would you think? I got my gelding from an auction. he has this scar on his right hind leg that was almost healed when i got him. the scar is now over a year old. he still isnt being ridden, but coming along well in training. the other day i was reading through his papers from the auction and the description that the owners had written up said:
Rowdy is a 1 year old gelding. He is a good quiet horse. Loves attention and gets along with other horses well. Just a real sweat horse, would make a great companion.

Now....seeing the scar on his leg and reading that description.....with the part about making someone a great companion. do you think they meant companion.....because he wouldnt be able to be ridden??? or companion...because he was to young to be ridden??

I was just thinking about this a while back when he threw another fit during a lesson. He is good for blowing up in a rodeo bucking tantrum out of no where. I just hope i am not doing something wrong if he isnt able to be ridden. like i said...he isnt being ridded yet. but i have been thinking about starting him lightly in the spring.

it wouldn't bother me as long as he is not lame on it

It almost looks like the hair is starting to come back in on it.

Does it affect his movement at all?? What did the vet say about it??

if i was looking at a horse with a scar like that i would get the vet to check it before i made a decision, the horse world is to risky. i would just get a vet out to check and you will find out if he can be ridden.

as logn as he's not lame on it i wouldnt worry, but havea vet check him out and see what they think about riding him. My mare has a bad scar near her hock and she's perfectly fine, justa bid moody.. normal mare!

I'd get a vet to look at him and determine if he's going to be sound enough to be ridden, then go from there.
