This may become a rant to be warned I went to Sioux City Animal Control yesterday and spent time with the animals and the people who run it. The person who took me was my French teacher Mrs. D'Ottavio. She is really nice and is friends with Cindy, who runs the place. They are up to their eyes with dogs. They had about two or three cages left open and that is with pairing up some puppies. Some of the cages didn't have latches anymore and they are using cords to keep them shut. The building needs repairs. They are funded by the City and apparently the city doesn't really care about them. They do the best they can to insure that the dogs, cats, and other animals get good homes before they have to be put down. It is not their fault that people just let their dogs wander off or dump them on the side of the road On the other hand, the Humane Society up here is supposedly no-kill. They are supposed to accept any animal. They charge a fee when you bring your animal in. Now the guy who owns the humane society is a jerk off The real problem I have with them is that they don't really accept every animal that is brought in because they have no room or whatever and would just put it down immediately because there is no room. Sometimes they won't accept a perfectly good dog and Animal Control is left trying to make room for the animal because the people there sure as heck don't want the animal to be put down. Remember how I said they were no kill? Well, they lied. They euthanize dogs to make room. Now, they are not supposed to do that. What has got me upset though, is I was reading comments on a newspaper article online and one lady was bashing animal control. She apparently preferred the Humane Society because Cindy was rude or something I dunno, and it really ticked me off because to tell you the truth, I found the people at the Control to be much nicer than anyone at the Humane Society. I'll admit, I thought the building was rundown and I wouldn't want any pet of mine there but now that I have been there, I realize yes, it is rundown, but the people there just want to find the dogs the best homes they can. I just really want to talk to that guy and really interrogate him in front of the media or haul his tush to court or something. I think the Humane Society would benefit greatly if someone like Cindy started running it. She shows dogs and also teaches obedience classes. She is a real activist for animals, not crazy like PETA or anything but she still helps them. My little brain is just running like crazy trying to figure out how I could trip him up in front of the media. GAH this makes me so.....agitated? Gyargh!!!! I'm trying to figure out how to raise money for them. There is something that Cindy set up to help take the strain off people who foster for them. I want to raise money for that. I want to get the info for that and maybe do that goodsearch site? *sigh* Just wanted to get that off my chest. If anyone actually read that all the way through, I'd be amazed!

I made it thru your whole post, and it sickened me. The animals are not the ones at fault, but yet they still get to pay the price. I'd do whatever you had to, to expose that guy to the public.

I agree 100% with Stormy. It is wrong of that man to be doing that. I would pay to see the look on the jerks face when he does get caught. Hehehehe

I made it through too. I'd be mad as he** in your shoes - heck, I'm mad just reading it. Good luck.
