bad horse experience???

Have you ever had such a bad horse experience/accident that you felt like you never wanted to ride again?

Yeah. My first horse was a green-broke 3 year old and I was 11. Enough said.

I said kinda... I've been in a bad driving accident that has made me really scared to drive again, but I am trying to get over that fear by training my own mare for driving, since I trust her.

I haven't had any really bad riding accidents though.

Yes. When I was 18 I had a really bad fall and fractured my lower back. I actually didn't have fear initially when I recovered, but after taking several years off I now have MAJOR confidence issues.... and I've very recently had some stuff happen that makes me question why I ride at all.....

When trying out for Princess of my saddle club my mare got stuck on the fence... which leaded to me bailing, and getting trampled among other injuries. I still finished the day though, even won my first class...that night I felt it! I was like a grape... this big purple swollen blob... It was the scariest thing in my life... a friend video taped it and watching it is amazing...

I've had 2 that really stick out to me...

There was a new horse at the barn I first started taking lessons. At that time I was doing w/t/c and jumping. He was a palomino named Nick and he was really handsome...But he did not like ANY pressure on the reins! You took an inch of those reins up making a straight line and he would start bucking!! Back then I was TERRIFIED of bucking horses(I'm over that now LOL) I actually started crying because I couldn't get him to stop bucking. I didn't know what to do and I was afraid to try anything my trainer told me(and everything she was telling me was the right thing to do) I NEVER rode the horse again even though a few months later I wanted to but I had my 'project' horse by then...

There was another bucking horse around the same time named Kasey...I asked for the canter and she just shot off and started bucking and bucking and bucking! I ended up on her neck and I refused to canter the rest of the lesson...I even got off early...That's embarassinf now...

Another time I was riding a QH named Hoss(now a therapy horse where I work) and I was having a semi-private lesson. We were jumping outside doing 4 jumps(2 on each side of the ring) on my suppose to be last round Hoss got too excited and I wasn't sitting up enough and he just kept getting faster and faster until I basically had no more control. He bucked over the 3rd jump and I was holding on for dear life! I was not letting go of the reins or his mane...I finally got tossed when I yanked my inside rein to get him away from the last jump and I just went over his shoulder still holding the reins...broke the reins, started rolling and hit the fence. Somehow I got a scar near my ankle from something...I didn't want to get on but my trainer told me if I didn't get on now I would never jump again because I'd be too scared...I got on with a new pair of reins and jumped all 4 jumps(my trainer said I only had to jump 2) and we ended on a good note...then I asked if I could lease Hoss LOL

yep i have. pyscho t.b and a beginer rider... buck -buck- buck -buck -rear- throw head between legs- huge buck - i come off and hit my head - he nearly stands on my stomach and i dont really remember it that well! but every time i rode him i wouldnt last more than one minute... and that went on for a few weeks before i vowed never to ride again.
i was stupid, and a beginner and i now see exactly everything i did wrong.. that helped me get over it and now i cant imagine being scared again its too much fun.

i put no, because I have gotten frightened but to better me and my horse I stayed on or got back on and worked threw it. So I have never not wanted to ride again b/c i forced myself which was a ok idea IMO.
