But you know, this summer she didn't lose her winter coat at all, I had to shave it off. Plus with the laminitis, that's gotta be a sign of Cushing's disease. So should I get some Pergolide? Stuff works like a charm but it's so expensive >_<
She does sound like she has the symtoms then doesn't she? Do you have a Vet you can consult regarding the Pergolide with? What part of CA are you in? Do you have access to grass hay?

As far as the thrush both Dry Cow Today and sugardine solution (betadine and sugar mixture) both work well.

Lol panic? Well I can't say I've panicking since this has been an ongoing problem for the past 4 years... though I can say I'm missing quite a bit of hair and my blood pressure has risen tremendously.... I just wanna figure out how to get her to walk without her having to put her head all the way to the ground, decide for five minutes which foot she wants to pick up first and then when she does, groan and wait for her legs to stop trembling.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having to deal with this, the questions I have are what ailments can you tell, how bad are they, and how do I fix them? I don't care how much it costs, my friend left me this horse when he died and she's my pride and joy like she was his. I'd do anything for this horse.

I don't think we get triple Crown feeds in my area anyway. I suggest looking at LMF:

that and grass hay. Since two large flakes of the alfalfa hay we usually have here in CA may weigh any where from 18-24# you want to feed the equivalent of grass hay (weight wise) This means at least two or three flakes for each one of alfalfa, depending upon the type of grass hay. Orchard is usually much heavier than Tiff or Bermuda per flake for example.

How can I tell where her absess is? I know it's in the picture of the hoof but I lost sight of where it was and I'm having trouble finding it again... when my ferrier was over, he cut out some of the sole and I could see it perfectly but now the sole is all hard and rough, it's hard for me to see

Well, no swelling or anything, it creaks a lot =P that could be arthritis. She's almost always juxtaposing off her (facing her front) right hind foot so her leg is always bent.

I live in Southern California, near Riverside. I think I've got three options: grass hay, meadow hay, and orchard hay. There's gotta be a feed store that's got at least one.
