Bad Farrier is coming!!!!

Well the farrier that told me to sell my horse, THEN HIT HER is coming Tuesday, I agreed to give him another chance, butif he touches her he is dead. I am hoping Sheza will do good, she is fine with, it is just other people. She has too big cracks in each fromt hoof, so I am only gooing to ride her light and put hoof stuff on her feet twice a day untill then, I am hoping they will be better by Tuesday so she can get shoes.

Why would you let a farrier who not only told you to sell your horse, THEN HIT THE POOR MARE, back on your property, let alone do her hooves again? Even if YOU give him another chance, I doubt Sheza will. Horses remember EVERYTHING... Trust me!

I did not want him back, but my parents won't listen, they might though after they have to pay him for coming out and doing nothing.

personally, I wouldn't ride her at all let alone jump her if both her feet are bad enough to allow a bad farrier to come back instead of taking the time to find a new one. if those cracks are as bad as I am picturing and in both feet then you are taking a big risk with her riding her before they are fixed.

Can't you find a different farrier? Even if you do I have tot ell you that she needs to be taught to stand still for whoever is holding her. No farrier good or bad is going to risk injury to himself because of a poorly behaved horse and he should be allowed to correct it if its misbehaving. I'm not saying he should of hit her to hurt her ( I don't remember what exactly he did) but one of my old horses was being a total jerk one day which normally he wasn't and my farrier gave him one good belly whack and growled no and he never had to correct him again and I had no problem with him doing that. I like my farrier, I prefer not to have him injured and out of work

I will try to get pictures of her hoofs.

She is awsome with me, just others, and my parents won't pick out her feet (Let alone there horses) so she can get used to it.

SHe was not "Bad" when the farrier was here last, she pulled away and it scarped the farrie, so he got mad and Sheza could tell, so when he went to do the back she side stepped and then he wacked her on her side with the file.

Well, I can't get pictures, yet, she is on free run on the property, so I will have to get them tomarrow, the crack starts from the bottum, and goes about an inch up

Both farriers I know and have worked with have done that. A bump with the file is a lot more polite than a bite- which is what another horse would do if Regal sidestepped into their space.

It was not a bump, it was a WACK, and she freaked out and pulled back, and when I tried to touch her she would freak, also Sheza is a sensitive horse, she hates being hit.

I agree, I would not let this farrier do your horse again. A good farrier will take into account the horse he is working with when he reacts.

Also, how long has it been since her feet were trimmed?

Putting on shoes is not a good idea at this point in time. If you insist on her wearing shoes, you need to wait until her feet are healthy.

Putting dressing on her feet twice a day will make them worse. 1-2 times a week is max amount it should be put on.
