| Senior Member+ | Bad Fall, thank GOD for my helmet!!!**Helmet photos Added**Post #36 OK, first, I have to state I can count on less then two hands how many times I've come off a horse in 30 years! The LAST time came off was last summer, during Dancer's first ride, she was bucking very hard and I had an opportunity to grab the fence and come off on my feet, I did so Today I was working Dancer... things went pretty good... we had a small arguement about moving off my right leg and turning her head to the left, but not a huge deal.... I was cooling her out at the walk on my property... She decided to try to throw herself up and forward when I asked for her to move off my left leg, I cranked her head to the right so she couldn't bolt... she threw herself sideways..... what happened next is not 100% clear to me because the next thing I can actually remember is being down at my house Apparently she tripped and fell over on her left side HARD with me on her The left side of my helmet is TOAST... very smacked up from the rocky ground... my left is bruised and scraped up and my left arm as a good gouge in it, along with my left rotator cup being sore (HOPEFULLY I just pulled not TORE anything!)...I do NOT remember hitting the ground... I do NOT remember Roger telling me to NOT move, grabbing up Dancer and securing her so she wasn't running around loose, him getting our neighbor to help him get me up and take me to the house... NONE of that is something I can remember Roger had to walk her out and untack her... I don't remember this either... after about 30 mins from the fall, I finally realized I was at the house and did NOT have a dream about working Dancer, but I HAD been working her... it was then I started to realize I had a bad tumble, but I STILL can't remember it My eye pupils are normal, and I'm taking Tylenol only per Doc's instructions (NO ibuprofen or asprin becasue that can thin the blood and cause a clot to break free)I only have a very mild head ache, but it's really bothering me that I can not remember the fall SO THIS is why I have been forcing myself to wear my helmet and today it probably saved me from being injured MUCH worse. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel fine and can ride again... ![]()

| Senior Member+ | I'm glad you're ok- please post a picture of your helmet- perhaps the damage to the helmet and not your head will encourage people to don their own.

| Senior Member+ | It is not unusual that after a trauma that you have some memory loss. I remember back when I had a nasty fall of a pony (I wasn't wearing a helmet and didn't know better back then) where I lost a good 10 - 15 minutes of memory. I couldn't remember phone numbers or the date and kept asking for the time. It is a part of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I dare say you got a bit of concussion out of it. Glad to hear you're not too badly hurt.

| Senior Member+ | Have you been to the dr or emerg Karyn? I think you should have your head examined and of course that sounds hysterical and normally I would put in a large lol there but seriously.... you might want to think about getting yourself properly looked at. That is a serious thud to the head that you took. Did you black out?
