Having aches and pains is a good thing, you are still able to feel everything and are able to walk. Hope you recover to 100%!!
YIKES, your head hitting the road is NEVER a good thing helmet or NO helmet!!! How terrible for those poor children to have to witness their mother's death ...

I really am happy that my head is NOT hurt much worse!!! My back is bruised up, but it too is OK , although it DOES make me wonder if I'd have NO bruises if I'd have had a body protector on as well... I'm now reasearching those for rocky riding and road rides...

Horses are always a risk... even with armour you can end up injured badly and/or dead, but there are certainly things we can do to improve our chances of minimal injury in times of accidents!

Thank God for Troxel. Thank God you are okay.

You are the poster child as to WHY we should wear hemuts but that is another thread altogether.

Yup that's why I posted my thread, I used to NEVER EVER wear a helmet unless I was jumping... I've been forcing myself to be more diligent about wearing my helmet and this fall was a GOOD example of how I could have been hurt a lot worse.

Good for you! Until the ground is softer than my head I too will continue to wear a helmut. And can you believe that motorcyclist fought the law when it was first introduced that you had to wear helmuts? A fall off a Harley at 80mph could do major damage as can a horse doing 10 mph.

You were veru lucky! I hope you feel better tomorrow. Im not allowed to ride without a Hard Hat and usually not without a back protector, (especially when schooling/jumping). And it shows that it is worth it! Take care and i hope you, and your horse are back riding again soon xxx

I'm glad that you're feeling better and that the headache is gone! (The throbbing is the worst part of a concussion.)

I too have thanked a helmet! I wear mine at all times when mounted, because I cracked one in a fall when I was 16. I remember approaching the jump, then I remember my parents picking me up. I don't remember anything in between, but apparently I kept asking where my horse was, over and over again.

Well I DO understand that people don't want to be FORCED to do something even if it IS the smart, safe, thing to do...but I also think it's crazy to NOT take safety precautions as simple as a helmet when we KNOW what DOES happen regularly with out wearing them.

I don't like EVERYTHING To be an actual law, but I DO think education is a good place to start so if people can read what I went through and see the photos of my helmet maybe even just ONE person who doesn't normally wear a helmet will decide to give one a try!
