Back from the event! Results and Pics!

*sigh* I just wrote this whole thing and lost it. Ok start over now...

Sat morning, 8:45 I rode dressage. Pal was really tense, and I was dissapointed in our test. Apparently the judge didn't mind it too bad, because in the Open training division out of 14 riders I was in a 3 way tie for 4th when the scores came out. 1st had a 30, 2nd was my friend Ashley with a 33, 3rd had a 34, and all 3 of us who tied had 34.5's.

XC, 1:45 the same afternoon. I was really nervous. Only Pal's 2nd training course, and there were some big questions. Some HUGE fences we shared with prelim, a tough half-coffin, a giant sunken road that used ot be on the prelim course, a tall vertical skinny, and a jump into the water to name a few. Pal was excellent! Although I am sick with a cold and was super tired, he carried us through. He was very good. and never really tried to stop at anything. I am so proud of my boy! Two training xc's under our belt and 2 clears so far!

Since I was in a tie I was really careful to pay attention to my watch. For those who don't know, in eventing you break a tie by whoever is closest to the Optimum Time on xc. It was 5:40. As I crossed the last fence I was ahead at 5:20 so I trotted until the finish line and ended with 5:35, pretty darn close!

Got XC scores back. Turn out the 1st place horse was eliminated, as well as the 3rd. One of the people I was tied with was also eliminated. Ashley was in 1st, and I was in 2nd, being closer to the optimum time. Whooo!

This morning, 10:00. Rode my stadium round. It was very tough for training. There was a triple combination, a giant liverpool, and an option, either taking a triple bar or a swedish oxer. Pal was pretty good. A bit quick , he was clean until the liverpool where he almost stopped, but tried anyway, and had a rail there. He went through the triple combination good, but we barely made the sharp turn to the option, where we took the triple bar from an extreme angle. I rode him very poorly to it. He cleared it anyway (what a good boy!) And finished with those 4 faults. Ashley has some problems as well, a stop at the liverpool, a rail, and time penalties.

Then on the loudspeeker they called the numbers who had placed to come into the ring to accept their ribbons. My number was called! I had no idea if I had even placed with the rail. So I was thinking "Great! We probably got 6th or 5th! Not bad!". Well the announced 6th, then 5th, which was Ashley. I was getting super excited now! Me and Ashley were the only juniors even in the line up. So they call 4th, still not us! So now I'm really thinking "3rd, heck yes!!!". They call 3rd. Not us! I'm blown away now, couldn't believe I had held onto my 2nd place with a rail, everyone else must have had huge problems as well! Then they call 2nd... nope!!! We WON! Woooot! My first event to win, and only my 2nd training! I couldn't believe it! I accpeted my ribbon and cooler, then got to lead the victory gallop around the ring! yahhh!

As far as pics, my dad got a couple quick shots. Sorry I dont have anymore riding ones, Erica didn't come. The professional photographer should have her pics up in 2-3 days, and I will post some riding ones then!

In the line up:

Wow! Congratulations!

I love the first pic. It reminds me of that sesame street song "one of these horses is not like the others..."

ROFL @ Lindsay! hahaha, it so is like the sesame street song! haha about the cooler, it was about 93 out, and Pal was all hot still, so needless to say, although I wanted it in the pic, I don't think we iwll be using it for at least another month!
