Exclamation Baby donkey...momma is rejecting it! Need Help!

My sister had some people knock on her door this morning saying a donkey was trying to give birth in the field.

She has a mini donkey that we had palpated two weeks ago and the vet estimated she had a month and a half left.

Anyways...sister ran out there, and ended pulling the baby out. when she turned around to go get a halter and the jenny attacked the baby with murder in her eyes.

They ended up getting the vet out who sedated the jenny and milked her so they could get colostrum into the foal. They rubbed the baby with the towel and gave it to the jenny to sniff...and she attacked the towel and shredded it.

She's so sedated she can hardly stand, but wants to kill the baby.

Baby so far seems to be doing well and is drinking what they can milk out of her from the bottle. He looks to be full term and is a little wooly mammoth (I'm waiting for pics)

Any suggestions??? How much of a chance does he have as an orphan?? Are donkey foals hardier then horse foals?

ETA: She still hasn't passed the placenta and has had two rounds of oxytocin

Would a nurse mare take on a mini donkey foal?? She's contacted the local colostrum bank and they are tapped dry. There aren't a lot of mini donks in her area, not sure how we would go about finding one that we can put him on

I think they might, it would depend how they were introduced I would think.
I would be easier if you could find a mini mare to be a nurse mare, but a pony sized mare may work too.

I wonder if htey make nurse donkeys?

We are searching high and low right now for a nanny goat!!! Since its a mini donkey, he's only the size of a cocker spaniel and we thought a goat would be perfect!

"Suds" is apparently up and running around. Momma is still tolerating milking so far, and my sister has some foal lac on hand.
