They're the derby courses, my favorite type. Incorporates the "original" type of fences you'd see going cross country. Makes you and your horse need to be spot on to handle the devil *****, banks, tabletops, etc etc. Love these type of courses.

Dude, don't tell me you've done derbies too! Way cool. Care to share your experiences with them? What kinds of courses you came across, jump heights, etc. Did you win any? (got any pictures???? I love pictures)

I know Suzie on here did one at Foxfield (??) last year and it was so neat. The stadium jump parts were 4' or highger...can't remember.

anyway, do share!

Wow! Incredible..

I'm usually a western rider, how high is this horse jumping? The jumps look pretty high.

WOW! What a course! I wouldn't want to tackle some of those jumps, but I'm sure it's quite the thrill for the rider.

It was years ago, no pictures unfortunately. I believe the max height was 3'3", so wasn't a full on huge one. I did it on my devil pony lol. They had stadium jumps set up in an open portion of their cross country course so we had the table top, a water, steps, and a bank on the outskirts of it that they incorporated into the course. For this area an unbelievable number of people entered, 40-50 can't remember exactly. We went clear, but were just at a huge disadvantage size wise (13.2 hh pony does not make it around a course fast enough haha) we came in 5th though, I was ecstatic. That was sort of my entrance into cross country and why I'm so excited to get my boy into eventing this year.

Cool thanks Karen

Where did you grow up and show at these derbies? I grew up in northern CA and I hadn't heard of them while out there. I heard about them when I moved to CO but don't know of any held there.

Yep, Derbys are a blast! These are pictures from two years prior. The fences were 3'6"-3'9". Last year I went in the 4'-4'3" class.
