| Senior Member+ | Hey welcome to the gang! I also ride in an Aussie saddle. I live next to a western Ranch and use there area sometimes they just love we when they have renters wanting to rent one of my saddles. I laugh cos I rid in a western arena on an aussie saddle posting like a pommy ( english person) You can get them without an overgirth, my husband is getting one after christmas without he said he can feel the overgirth and it bugs him. I believe that the overgirth is on the stock saddle and just for added safety for the rugged aussie countryside. From all that I have read about the Aussie saddle it seem so much easier on your horses back (boy I bet I get a response on that comment) You also lean more forward and the saddle is set higher up the horses back that a western. I love my saddle and thoses poley's boy are they life savers. |

| Senior Member+ | One of my friends has an Aussie and we all hate the thing. We did remove the over girth as it did not seem to be nessesary. But the problem with it is that no saddle pad will stay under it! I mean no mater what we do, put a riser in front, uses diferent pads etc nothing helps as soon as we hit the trail the silly thing is comming out the back. The saddle is terribly balanced on the cantl rather than on the seat. Even with the overgirth. We even tried putting a rear cinch on it,no effect. It is the kind with a western type horn on it. Not uncomfortable to sit in but with the blanket comming off all the time it just keeps slipping. Someone else I met had the exact same trouble and no idea how to fix it. Anyone have any other ideas? My friend got it as a gift from her mom and would like to keep it if we can get the pad to stay put under it.

| Senior Member+ | I don't know if there's a version for Aussi saddles, but I had a Pocket pad for my english saddle to keep the pad on under it. A pocket pad comes up around the lowest/ underside flaps of the saddle, literally sits the sadde in two connected pockets. There's no way the pad can slip out from under there.

![]() | I grew up riding bareback, so when I finally managed to get a horse as an adult I tried several types of saddles out. I found out that the Aussie is the most comfortable saddle that I tried. I tried the western, the english, the canadian mounted, well you get the idea. My husband never rode a horse till the beginning of this year and the only saddle he will ride now is the Aussie. As far as the saddle pad slipping I never had a problem with mine doing that. |
