Okay everyone. With Shelly's paypal account in place I'd like to start the bidding on some of the items tomorrow morning. I'll be posting them in a format that seems organized once I figure that out. I'd like this to be a 'silent' auction so PLEASE send all bids to me in PM this way there's no 'Oh I donated more than so and so'. I will fwd the bids and info to the owners of the items and Shelly to keep it all honest and so you know that you're getting all the info on your items. I think all items should be up for auction for 24/48 hours. Any input on exactly how this should be run is welcome.

Nope, doesn't have to be horsey at all so a great time to go through all the things everyone has pulled out for fall cleaning I'll be keeping track of bids and amount collected and all money is going DIRECTLY to Stormyheart's paypal.

I think that's a GREAT way to handle it.

I've thought it over, and I think rather than auction the pony I've got sitting around, I'd like to offer a custom pony for the winning bidder. I'm even willing to try a pinto if the bidder's okay with waiting a little longer for me to iron out the kinks. It will come with the horse's name embroidered into a ribbon (sewn onto pony) or nickname if the horse's name is excessively long... I'll cover shipping.

Here's the link to my latest "public" pony, in case anyone wants an example: Officially introducing... Reginald!

That is awesome. I may have to bid on that

I was thinking, everyone let me know if you like this idea, of auctioning off a breeding to my stallion. A little bit about him: Lark N Dark is an own son of Rugged Lark, double registered with AQHA and ARHA, approved for breeding to APHA horses. He went to his first show two weekends ago and earned 12 total points in the events of Ranch Riding and Halter. He will be showing again in November and will be showing in Ranch Riding, Trail, Ranch Reining, Reined Cow Horse and Working Cow Horse and Halter. I have his stud fee set at $350 plus collection and shipping. Collection and shipping are the only things I ask would come to me. I would donate the stud fee to Stormyheart. Everyone who has one of his foals loves them and almost all are breeding back this year. The first foal crop has started winning at the local level but has not yet been shown in association shows. This is his web site: www.larkndark.com

Dumb idea or would anyone be interested?

I think its a great ideo to auction off a breeding. To the idea about a silent auction, I think its a wonderful idea, but how will we know if we've been out-bid?

You could keep an updated highest bid listed in the thread... but I think you might need to stretch the auctions out a little for it to be totally fair.

Ok that sounds good. I'll post the highest current bid for each item as it comes in. This way everyone can keep track but it still remains anonymous. I figured I'd make the auctions short to get the money where it needed to be as fast as it needed to be there however I also think it'd be better this way everyone has a shot even if they can't get online that day. 3 days per auction? That's almost half a week so...? Should it be longer?

I guess it depends on how often you're going to be online to update... know what I mean?
