Exclamation Attractive rescue filly w/30 days under saddle needs home ASAP, Indiana

Praline is a beautiful, approximately 3yo grade Appendix/TB-type filly. She is a bright bay with a white star/stripe/snip on her face. She's come a long way since her rescue almost a year ago--but the fact that she is not having consistent, experienced handling isn't helping her manners out any. She was abandoned in a field one night--covered in bite marks, kick marks, rain rot, dandruff, you name it...she had it! She had bad hooves, and bad manners. Praline looks like a whole new horse, today. She is solid, and gorgeous to look at...but needs consistent handling (natural horsemanship/Parelli would do her WONDERS) and an experienced handler to help get rid of some bad habits. This filly has no proof of registration, or anything of that sort--by looking at her, she appears very TB-like, possibly Appendix. She has had 30 days of training, and I was told that she did very well.

Currently, she is somewhere that her handlers are a bit timid of her, and it's not doing much good for her behavioral issues. She needs consistent handling from someone who knows what they are doing. Absolutely NO BEGINNERS!

She's probably about 15 hands (give or take a smidge), currently.

Praline needs a new, good, caring home--ASAP. I do not believe she has an adoption fee, if she does, it's not much.

Please help find her a good home. She is located in southern Indiana.

Thank you.

These are photos of Praline in July of 08. She has since grown back her mane (it was shaved, due to lice), and has filled out everywhere and started to look more like a HORSE, rather than a gangly baby. Look at that walk!

Wow, I'll bet she could do about anything once she gets some "polishing" done, manners and such, she is gonna be a knock-out!

Thanks guys!

She really is a sweet girl when she's being worked with. They have no idea about her history prior-to being dumped in a roadside pasture where she didn't belong. She was a sad sight to see. She does lunge, she had 30 days under saddle...she just basically needs CONSISTENCY on the ground with her manners. Her owner has very little time, and little experience with horses like Praline's.

The trainer said she was really quite good under saddle. A few bucks I think they said, but nothing that shouldn't be expected of a 3 yo filly. He said she would even make someone a great trail horse, but she does have beautiful gaits that should make someone a nice show horse if desired as well.

They really just want to get her to a good home asap. She needs/deserves it.

Thanks again for the compliments/kind words!

I wish I was knowledgeable enough to take on a project but I am smart enough to know I'm not! lol I will have my yearling to get busy with in the ground manner department so I think I better stick to one doable project at a time!

Gorgeous horse, I'm kinda curious about her...Do you think you could answer a few questions?

I notice that you said intimidating. By intimidating do you mean that she is aggressive, etc or the people around her don't know how to act around a green horse?
What kind of bad manners/habits does she have on the ground. Is she pushy, spooky?
Is the lice cleared up? >_<
Another thing, I would love to know her exact height. :-)

Her owner really does not have the time or resources to get her properly trained, or give her the time she needs. Praline has obviously had some trauma occur before they took her in. She makes nasty faces like she wants to bite, but I don't believe she ever has (although she might if she had the opportunity), she gets p.issy with her grain, and I know she has kicked someone once before. I'm not sure if it was a "I'M GOING TO GET YOU" kick, or an "Ooops! You startled my pants off!" kick. I think it might have been the second one, as it was the first day she had been to the new barn.
She is not really pushy. She stands well to be groomed, she LIKES being groomed. She enjoys horse cookies and carrots. And she really does want to be loved on, and someone's main squeeze--but she is just intimidating because of the way she "looks" I guess sometimes. She doesn't really know "personal space", so she tends to invade it, sometimes looking mean, sometimes looking friendly. I think THAT is the scariest thing. You can't really be sure if she is going to just look mean, and attempt something (she, I don't believe, has ever attempted anything except maybea nip), or if she is going to be sweet and be loved on.
I'm pretty certain they measured her right at 15hh. I think she may still might grow a bit. She's VERY leggy!

I really like her, and had every intention of taking her myself--but because I have a daughter I want to raise around horses, I know that she isn't something that I could 100% with confidence have my little girl around.

I think she would make a true life partner...and give her 110% for someone ALL the time who was willing to work with her.

Oh geeze I wish you were posting this in a couple months but I don't have my new place set up yet and it wouldn't make much sense to take her to Elkhart and then have to bring her down here, especially since I have a 2 horse trailer. Would make it a bit tough and expensive having to make two trips to get all three horses.
