Thumbs up As a seller, what do you want to know?

We all have a good idea of what to ask as a buyer. You know, the standard questions about health, bloodlines and training.

But what do sellers want to know about BUYERS?

Is there ever anything you really want to know but are afraid to ask?

I would want to know where the live, what they do (riding wise), who they train with, what they plan to use my horse for, their level of experience, where my horse will be staying (barn/pasture)...and I would want to be notified first if they were ever going to sell my horse.

well I think I'd ask most questions...but what's going through my mind is...

"Are you as wonderful as you appear to be...or are you a nut?"

We sell lots of horse at the ranch. Her is what we ask:

How will you be using the horse? (Western, English, Pleasure, show, harness etc...)

How experience is the primary handler/rider?

What is your stable/pasture situation?

Who is your vet?

How often do you do routine health checks?

Do you have a feeding program? If so please describe it. (rapid diet changes can cause digestive upsets)

How often will you trailer the horse? If often is the trailer in good condition and safe for the horse? (usually the buyer has the trailer with then so inspect it.)

Will this horse be kept with other horses in the pasture or barn?

Are all of your other horses coggins tested? (this one is and is negative)

Do you have a round pen or similar training area? (our horse are not trained to work on lunge lines but rather to free work in a round pen)

Finally, you do understand that you have 14 days to return the horse and get all but 10% of the purchase price back should it not suit you for any reason? (saves many from being neglected or abused by owners who decide that the horse is not what they wanted.)

*Who is going to be the primary rider and what their level of experience is.

*What the facilities are like where the horse will be boarded.

*What type of tack you plan on using.

*If possible as the seller, I'd like to see the way the interested party rides the horse.

Stuff like that I guess...

I want to see you ride the horse so I know you are able to handle it. I sold a horse to a gal that told me she was very very experienced in riding and the spicier the horse the better. I believed her. She couldn't even get on the horse !!!! Once she did she went into a canter and jerked the horses head up so hard that she got confused and crow hopped - the gal basicly rolled off the saddle. No legs at all. She ofcourse blamed the horse. I told her, that the horse carries its head that way, its trained to drop its head not hold it up in front of you. She did not have a clue how to ride ANY horse much less a good ole broke one.
