Arwen Evenstar...

Well, I was really nervous about doing this for a while, but it'll all be for fun, I guess... I know my opinion about her won't change no matter what anyone says, but I'm curious about your opinions of her.

But, before you start, let me first say:

Yes, I know most of the pics aren't very good. I'm hard-pressed to find ANY decent pics of her.
Yes, she has two cracks down the centers of her front hooves. She received improper nutrition by her previous owners, and developed those. However, she is shod in front, receives hoof supplements, and has her hooves painted with Rainmaker for moisture.
Yes, she is pigeon-toed in front, but she moves fine anyway. I'm aware, and so there's little need for that to be pointed out.
And finally, yes, she is underweight. After she choked and nearly died in August, she lost a lot of weight from staying in, and then became depressed for a while and wouldn't eat. But she's on beet pulp and vegetable oil, and she's actually looking better than she did a couple weeks ago.

So there, now that I'm done sounding defensive, here's Arwen!!!!!!

And I'm REALLY sorry if none of these pics provide a good glimpse at her conformation. (I know some of 'em really don't...) So if none of these are helpful, just say so, and though I won't be able to post any better ones for a while, at least I'll know not to expect anything... LOL.

What a pretty girl I like her. My mare Bonnie was pigeon toed.. never slowed her down. She survived in the wild for 2yrs like that. She never stumbled, so we always just left it alone.
She is marked nicely I think. And Im of the mind, if you love em, and get alone well, and they are healthy. Thats what matters

wanted to add.. She looks good for everythiing you said she went through. You have done a fine job with her Id say. Its not always easy to get a horse back to good health.

I also no nothing about confo. but I have to agree with Kar. Whatever you are doing seems to working with your mare. I think that she looks very well taken care of and healthy. She is a beautiful horse.

She looks wonderful, with more weight she will have a nice stocky build to her. She has a very kind eye and im sure shes very happy she is in a new home, sounds like the other one wasnt very nice to her! I have a TB gelding I had rescued a long time ago who we use in our lesson program who had 7 inches of growth on his feet, meaning he hadnt been SEEn by a farrier for that long. It took us nearly a year and a half to get his feet back to somewhat normal. They had so much thrush in them that they were almost spongey feeling. He now has some cracks in his fronts and a 1/4 crack in the back. Grass(Vitamin E) is great for hardening hooves, and you could try pure Biotin supplements for her hooves too! Its awesome to see youve got her and your helping her out. She has very nice markings and im sure she will look even more beautiful then she does now! Good luck with her health! How old and how tall is she by the way?

Actually, we give her Biotin every night... *grin* I guess we're smarter than I thought...

And she's about 15.1 HH and 17 years old, although you wouldn't think so from the way she acts... LOL.

She has a very upright shoulder and a long gaskin with slightly weak hocks as a result, but other than that i cant see any real conformation flaws. Mostly i just see lots of angles due to her poor condition, but you're working on that. Post back in a few months when she is in good condition and is well muscled up and we'll be able to give you a better idea. She has an extremely pretty face.
Well done you for taking her on though, its not easy taking on a horse that needs so much work. I love her name was that your choice?
Lou
