Sounds like simple training issues to me. The horse wants to leave the circle, probably because you bump on him and make him work inside the circle. How much training has this horse had on lateral and circle work?

Is there anything that spooks him in the arena? My horse dislikes the corner where the barrels are stored and the little bit of light that come through the bottom of the big overhead door at the far end of the arena. No matter how many times I make her work through it, she never quite gets over it.
