Red face Are the repairs too much to be worth it?

So I found an 18" Crosby Mark VI. $200. There are some big cracks n the seat, but I'm not worried at all about that. But the stitching on the panels is coming undone. Should I offer something less or should I skip this one? I wouldn't want to ride in it before getting it repaired because it looks a lot worse than I expected in the new pictures I asked for.

And then there's another one that I found that's only a 17". Normally 17" would give me some room to spare, but the cutback would make a difference. This one also needs repairs:

I was wondering if I should try for either of these or keep looking? I need a cutback. Heck, I'm even willing to consider a saddleseat saddle if it'll fit.

I had found almost the perfect saddle, but it was for pickup only. So that one is out of the picture.

Please let me know what you think. I'm desperate to ride in a saddle again. Today I finally got Crayon to canter bareback, but I know it's not very comfy for her. Especailyl when she's learning to canter and steer at the canter, etc.

Thanks.

Wait... What do you mean yes. Yes to what? lol. Which one should I try to get?

I don't know of a saddle repair shop around. I'd have to do some research about that.

Thanks.

The first ebay auction?

Because I was first interested in that one, but the repairs were a little iffy. The one in the picture I posted would fit me better, but the damage was worse than described.

Maybe a saddler opened the stitching in the panels to reflock it and didn't sew it back? Just a thought -- have no idea about this stuff, really!

You probably wouldn't be happy with the saddle seat saddle, they put you in a very different position than a regular saddle and are about as flat as is physically possible. Some are quite hard seated too, not comfy at all.

For what it's worth, we had quite a few saddles at the school barn where I started riding that had the panels detached from the flaps like the first eBay link -- didn't seem to affect their rideability at all, but if it's going to turn out to be the wrong size seat for you, I'd say skip it, not worth spending any money on something that won't work (I know, you knew that )

Thanks. lol. I'm not really positive if the seat size would be too bad. Just that the 18" would be better.

It appears the saddle wasn't taken care of very well for it to develop such need for repair.
I had a crosby Mark VI that the previous owner had not cared for. It was very comfortable and fit the horses I rode well but once one thing started to go, the rest did shortly there after. What started off as cracking in the seat turned into the leather splitting. The panel on mine had also started to come undone and ended up coming undone a lot more.

I would pass it up! Maybe you can find one in better shape?
