Of course all horses all different, I go to a barn where ALL of the horses are arabs, and let me tell you, I've only seen 2 tht are "Hot-blooded" Forget sterotypes, there not true. Most arabs are beutiful, intelligent, and extremly easy to train horses! I own a Arab/ quarter horse and she is great!

That surprised me actually! I've read that their usually fairly calm and willing to learn. Obviously they all have their own personalities but overall reasonably sound.

Would you say they where suitable for a first time owner or do you think something a little less grand to start with?

Mine is very brilliant, and she knows it. She's hard to train when she doesn't want to learn. However, USUALLY as long as her rider is in a good mood, she'll be an easy ride. ![]() I just lost an Arabian mare I had for many years, and she's definatley one of the best I've been able to work with. She was smart, strong willed, and ost of all kind. |

I was never a big fan arabs. Nothing about them really did anything for me. Then I got two into training and I changed my tune. One arab I have is totally nuts, but it's really not her fault. She had some bad training when she was young. But, she is so easy to ride and train. The other arab I have been working with is mine until he sells. I really like him. He is so easy to train, he has the most wonderful gaits and he is just a sweet horse. Not "hot blooded" at all. He spooks at everything that isn't sand in the arena, but he improves everytime I ride him. He was the easiest horse that I have ever had when it comes to lead changes. Anyway, I agree with you, they are very nice horses and beautiful. And easy to train.

I think Arabs get a bad rap/rep b/c they Do have an brain in their heads and they use it; sometimes they outsmart the rider. I like it that they tend to be a horse you 'have to ride' not just 'sit on.' | |
