Exclamation Arabians Going To Auction

CROSSPOST:
This auction will be March 4th too...but these are all registred arabians. Here's the contact info, I don't know any more than this.

<<Subject: Arabs being sent to auction in Front Royal, VA

An Arabian farm in Scottsville, Va. is being sold, the owner has moved & has left 9 nicely bred young Arabians there.
Instead of advertising them, they're going straight to the Front Royal auction this Sat., Mar. 4.
According to information recieved, the owner would take almost any offer for the horses. We decided to send this info to PRA members because someone may know someone looking for an Arab and unfortunately, many horses are bought for meat at these auctions.
In the USDA report last month, "loose" horses (those not of serviceable age for riding & sold for meat) sold at prices starting at $390 at the nearby Marshall auction.

Here is the emailed message about these Arabs:

Here is the information I have;
Contact Wes Bowen at Hidden Hills Arabians 434-981-2634
for information on these horses, available BEST OFFER.
They are going to the sale in Front Royal on this Saturday.
All are purebred registered Arabs, most Sweepstakes nominated.
Mostly young ones, fillies, 2 geldings, one colt.

All are halter broke and lead, used to stalls though turned out daily.
Seemed very gentle when I walked out in the field with them.
They came up to us and let us pet them so have been handled.

I talked to someone who knows what going on with these horses lastnight. THey are not being sold through the auction they are being sold at the farm. Approximately 25 of them mainly mares.

From what I have heard most, if not all, of these horses have now been sold...I gather he left someone there to care for them...but put the word out that he was sending them all to auction. The last post I read online (and can't find now) is that 5 Arabians have sold to individuals and now he'll just try to sell the others privately instead of auction.
It was said some of them were Sweepstakes and I believe these went for about $400 a piece which is not too pricey for registered Arabians in good health...but then it's also possibly more than he'd get at the auction for those horses. And you have to remember that at an auction he'd have to pay the auction house a percentage of the sale price....I bet they've sold faster this way.
As I told someone else....this all more than likely was a tactic that worked in this guy's favor in regards to getting the word out to the public. If he had just advertised 9 Arabians for sale people would not have acted so quickly thinking they might be too pricey, but if left to go to auction many people would think..."hey, maybe I could afford one of these and save it from becoming someones dinner."
As I said before.....Who knows......

Sandra, your an excellent horsewoman, thank you for posting this, so people could buy theses horses before they did end up some place not nice.

What I need to ask you is this at auctions does a person have to show papers on any horse they want to auction off? If not, how can people get this into a law where it has to be done this way?
I have heard many stories on horses that were stolen and end up at a auction and sold to killer buyrs, I just nneed to know for a person of your caliber how do go I and others go about doing something Re: horses with no papers at an auction, anything you have or others please let me know in this thread or pm me.

Thank you,

Tammy
