It is still allowed in the performance classes.
Yeah - I caught that. I showed a stallion at halter. Twenty something years ago now. And that wasn't so then. We blacked the hooves.

This is a natural face.

And another:

Here's Magnum Psyche... overclipped, over oiled (IMHO)

Oooh I didn't realize that was going to post so big!

Well, I guess you can definitely see up close what they do... all the hair is clipped from around the eye... supposedly to make it look bigger.

Freaky... I've seen some people do their QHs like that. I am definitely a fan of the natural look.

I like a little baby oil... just enough to make the skin look dark and soft. Rubbed in... not just slicked on.

Smile

Here is a stallion (now deceased) that was owned by a friend of mine and the sire of a Half Arabian that I bred.
He is lightly oiled in these photos taken durning a shoot for photos to advertise him...his eyes were not shaved bald just oiled.
This is how I prefer to turn a horse out for show.

Oh gosh, that picture of Magnum Psyche! He looks positively dripping...almost like I wouldn't want his muzzle to touch my clothes for fear of leaving a wet oily spot. That is not flattering to me at all.

The stallion you posted Sandra, his skin looks enhanced and moisturized. I wouldn't be afraid to stroke his muzzle Very nice. I see why you chose him

^^I agree, the subtle oiling is actually a nice enhancement. I guess its like women and make up. sometimes less is more.

Sure, if she's pretty and they market her to the right people. Horse pricing is completely arbitrary, and depends entirely on the market you're able to reach.
