Smokeygirl....I do understand your reasoning and respect your opinion...however.......I do disagree.
While I have no doubt that David Boggs now has feelings for this stallion...after all the horse has made him money and promotes his business....I do believe that back then he would have "risked it".
The facts speak for themselves...
He was given 5-years suspension and 5-years probation from any IAHA (now AHA) sanctioned event.
He was found guilty of having show horses surgically altered, including liposuction, eye tattooing, and throatlatch surgeries. Then promoting those animals for show and breeding.
There were a number of animals that were involved.
Keep in mind that Magnum was a yearling when he had his operation.
Magnum was one of several yearlings and adult horses having cosmetic work done during that time.
This is supposed to be the "elite" of training, showing and stallion facilities for the Arabian Horse and I cannot believe that such a facility would have the kind of care/husbandry problems with their young show stock that would lead to several yearlings developing the vice of cribbing.

While this did happen several years ago, and the man did "do his time" I have lost any and all respect that I once had for him and know with all confidence that I am not alone.
When Magnum was taken back into the show ring after David's suspension was over...the only people cheering for the stallion were the people from Midwest...when the stallion was announced the winner and was National Champion...the only people applauding and cheering in the arena were the people from Midwest. David did not even do his full victory lap...he cut it short (keeping to close to the Midwest cheering section) because of the very obvious "silent" lack of public approval.

Time will tell if this trainer has changed his ways...and while this whole event is now in the past and a sad part of the Arabian show world history.......it is not forgotten by many.

I LOVE *Padron. I also love Padrons Psyche. Actually I had them as my background on my computer for awhile. They were/are both very stunning stallions.

I never really liked Magnum Psyche. I don't know why. Just never had a 'feel' for him. He is a beautiful stallion, just not my cup of tea.

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. David had started marketing Magnum Psyche already, and knowing what they had (bc David told them), I doubt the owners would have risked it. He was bred by very small breeders, who still are not really "on the map" so to speak.

I love a properly groomed Arab.
Not so "properly" .. it's actually against AHA rules for halter classes .. although it's still done ..

Yes, that is right....the grooming is covered in the AHA rule book and many are violating the rule:
Quote:
AR107 Conduct and Specifications.
6. Additional causes for mandatory elimination from the arena are

a. removal of eyelashes,

b. changing the natural color of the mane and/or tail (See GR802),

c. balding the area around the eyes or proximal to the muzzle and nostrils.
A judge may penalize an entry with excessive amounts of oil, grease or other substances so as to cause an unnatural appearance;

d. No product shall be applied to a horse’s hoof to hide or conceal a conformation defect. Only clear or transparent products may be used on the hooves of horses while being showed in Breeding and/or In-Hand classes.
The problem is getting Judges to the shows who will enforce the rules...elimination and penalize....we need a LOT more Judges like Peter Cameron!

I'm glad there is a rule against the shaving and greasing, at least.

I think it's interesting that there's now a rule against hoof black. When I was showing we used black on dark hooves, clear only on white ones.

Wow, the things I have missed out on in the halter world. Seriously I had no idea people did cosmetic surgeries on horses.
Ok I heard more details on this mare she is in fact a daughter of padron even though she is only 8. would it make her more valuable?

Please take note that the rule prohibiting the use of hoof black is ONLY for the halter classes.
It is still allowed in the performance classes.

Since it's been brought up...could someone show a picture of a horse excessively balded and greased and then one that is done up properly?
