Question Arabian mare. To breed or not to breed?

Hi. I know these pics aren't great. I could have gotten closer on her side shot. But I want to maybe breed her someday. Just thought I'd check with you guys and see what you thought of her and if you thought she'd be good breeding material. Here's a little info on her.

14.3hh
*Padron granddaughter
Awesome, sweet personality
High withers. Makes her back look weird, IMO
Beautiful head

Well, let me know. Thanks for looking!

Is there a way you can change the pics so we can access the larger version?

However

This would turn me off on breeding her. But I can't see the pics good enough to really make an opinion.

I second what BW said. If we were able to enlarge the pictures, maybe we'd be able to give a better breeding critique. She's cute though.

On the wither issue, you best need to consult the arabian people on the breed characteristics...if it is an "ok" thing or not

one thing I am seeing in the other picture, however is tat it looks like she twists from the knee down in the cannon, causing her to toe out. Either that or the hooves really need a better farrier involved. I dunno, I keep being drawn to them

Now, as for whether that would stop a breeding, that all depends.

1. stallion prospect must be impeccable.
2. What are your breeding reasons? WHY do you want to breed THIS mare when there are so many more horses out there needing homes?

why her? Why now. Why ever?

Ask yourself that really hard.

Are you ready for if she dies during the pregnancy, if the foal dies, or both?

Thanks for all your replies. I don't think anyone is ever totally prepared for losing the mare, foal, or both. But, I am not totally ignorant. It is always at the back of my mind. That's why I haven't bred before. As for her legs, they are perfect. The way she is standing and the fact that my farrier wasn't able to trim her for 10 weeks because he got hurt, might have something to do with that. I don't know though. She has awesome legs. I've noticed that when someone has an idea to breed on this forum, the point always gets brought up about there being too many horses that no one wants. I realize that there are WAY too many out there. I want to breed her to a warmblood eventually and hopefully get a lovely baby out of it. The baby I would breed for would need to have the movement and ability to someday ride Dressage. I am not breeding to try to sell the baby right away. If and when I breed, the baby is mine until it dies. I feel the same way about my mare. I know life doesn't always work that way, and sometimes people need to sell their beloved animals. That's why I would be super choosy about the stallion. Why do I want to breed her? Well, she is so calm and sweet, very pretty, and lovely movement. And the fact that I love her more than anything. I would love to have a baby out of her. And yes, I know that you don't always know what you will get. But, that's why there are so many stallions to choose from. And that's why you ask the owner a ton of questions before you send your mare to be bred. Sheesh, I'm writing a book! No, I don't need to breed my mare. But, I have always dreamed of breeding and raising a foal. I know it's a lot of work, be frustrating at times, but it can be rewarding too. Ok, I'm done now. Thanks everyone!
