she's very pretty and if you can take care of the baby and are ready for it then go for it.

Your mare has a sweet expression and a cute face.
Your mare has some conformation flaws and some breed type flaws that make her a less than prime choice as a breeding prospect.

She has a straight shoulder, her chest appears narrow and her loin/topline is weak and she is bit sickle hocked.
Like BW said, the fronts look like they turn out - but photos can be decieving (and horses can stand funny sometimes) and you know her better than we do. I can believe it's just the photo and not her.

She has a short, steep croup and tail set. (breed type)

Her neck length looks fine and she has a nice short back and looks fairly balanced. It looks like she is a good weight and well-cared for. She presents a pleasant picture.

I agree with Banat about her confo.

I know you love this mare and want to breed her. I can also appreciate the idea as i wanted to breed my mare but decided not to. I decided not to cause there is a bunch of foals out there to buy...also if you get whats already on the ground you can pick exactly what you want like color/markings.
Then you also don't threaten injury or death to the mare during breeding or foaling. Its really up to you though .

If you want I can help you find a foal online...

That's why I haven't bred before. As for her legs, they are perfect. The way she is standing and the fact that my farrier wasn't able to trim her for 10 weeks because he got hurt, might have something to do with that. I don't know though. She has awesome legs. I've noticed that when someone has an idea to breed on this forum, the point always gets brought up about there being too many horses that no one wants. I realize that there are WAY too many out there. I want to breed her to a warmblood eventually and hopefully get a lovely baby out of it. The baby I would breed for would need to have the movement and ability to someday ride Dressage. I am not breeding to try to sell the baby right away. If and when I breed, the baby is mine until it dies. I feel the same way about my mare. I know life doesn't always work that way, and sometimes people need to sell their beloved animals. That's why I would be super choosy about the stallion. Why do I want to breed her? Well, she is so calm and sweet, very pretty, and lovely movement. And the fact that I love her more than anything. I would love to have a baby out of her. And yes, I know that you don't always know what you will get. But, that's why there are so many stallions to choose from. And that's why you ask the owner a ton of questions before you send your mare to be bred. Sheesh, I'm writing a book! No, I don't need to breed my mare. But, I have always dreamed of breeding and raising a foal. I know it's a lot of work, be frustrating at times, but it can be rewarding too. Ok, I'm done now. Thanks everyone!
Sounds like good enough reasons to me! and sounds like you thought about it alot. As for a mare you want to breed to keep the foal, she looks decent enough, espy if you get a nice stud, you want to keep the foal, not try to sell it. Not every mare who breeds has perfect confo.

I understand you want a foal from your mare you love so much, I wish everyday my gelding was a mare so I could breed him and get a foal out of him casue I love him so much! and want to continue his lines ( his sire is now gelded ) SO, if you have the means, the money and the time to breed this nice mare, Id say DO IT! There is something extra special having a foal born out of a mare that is super special to you! Just because there are a lot of unwanted horses and foals out there doesn't mean we have to stop breeding our horse's!

You dont sound ignorant or newbish and your mare isnt some trashy mutt horse that doesnt have any right to be reproducing, those are the types that should say no to breeding. Not you! So GL to ya!!

There are PLENTY of WB babies out there, waiting for their forever home! I bet there's a lot of Arab/WB ones, too! For a LOT less than your bill will be by the time all the mare-care is said and done.

I am really jealous that you can foresee your financial future like that. Wish I could! Sometimes life comes out of nowhere and slaps me in the bank account....what's your secret?

What has she done in her life? Accomplishments? What are her U/S and in hand skills? Can we see a video of her movement?
I love myself, and I have a cute walk and I run like a beast, but that doesn't mean I need to go have a foal, even with a runway model for Tommy Hilfiger who's a rocket scientist in his spare time!

I don't think she's breeding quality, IMO.

But...since you want to breed her to a Warmblood my advice is to get her inspected and into a Mare Book so the foal can be registered. Plus, the judges will tell you if she's breeding quality or not.

I love my mare to pieces to, I think she's the greatest thing, but I almost lost her twice due to breeding.

that is a very good idea.

It will up the value of both mare and foal, and you will get a really good evaluation and opinion on whether she is or is not quality enough. especially since you want a warmblood brought into the picture.
