just because a horse isnt expensive with these maganificant bloodlines doesn't make it a horse that can't make it big or go somewhere. how much you pay shouldn't have to depend on how well the horse is. I just bought a horse that was $500 and she has some good prospects. Are you saying you wouldn't buy a horse that you bond with and are compatible with JUST becuz it isnt expensive or has these amazing bloodlines, they aren't everything that makes a horse good

Perhaps if you will actually ready what I wrote instead of trying to find something to get defensive about, you will notice that I was comparing a $10,000 horse to a $2,000 horse. Not saying I could get a $90,000 horse for $2,000.

I haven't found a horse worth $10k that you could find a comparison to for $2k either. Love2TrailRide: I'm not saying you can't bond with a cheaper priced horse... I haven't paid more than $5000 for a horse in my barn at the moment, and all are wonderful (with the exception of the cheapest in my barn, who's leaving this month or in Jan). They've all proven themselves to me.. the one I do have was priced at $12,000 when he was a stallion, but he was then gelded at reduced to $8000 and then when a young girl bought him she ruined him, and I ended up paying around $2000 for him... he's finally back to show level and will begin competing soon, I MAY get him doing good enough to get an offer of $8000-$10,000, but I'd never sell him for that. and he was an expensive horse to start with... You can bond with any horse, but that horse can't always take you to the top...

Who said any of us wouldn't buy a cheaper horse? I don't believe anyone said that. Since if you read the other posts cool time is thinking of buy a $500 filly. *Psylocke and I have both bought horses for $2000...the thing is neither of us bought national quality horses. We are lucky to get regional out of that is this business. That also doesn't mean her and I don't know how to pick a good horse, it just means we got attached to the horse or it had some qualities that we liked, but we KNOW they are not going to enter the national ring...no matter how much training we put on them. I'm sure your mare does have some good prospects...no one said she didn't. We aren't trying to say that a less expensive horse isn't useful or isn't perfect for somebody, but we are trying to prove to be competitive at that high of level they need to be a very talented horse...and you are going to have to pay for what level you want. Yeah my little $500 filly isn't going to be WC WP horse, but she'll be fine for lower levels, and heck she'll make me a nice "Love Me Horse" I'm buying her for sentimental reasons, I loved her dad, he meant the world to me, and before I could get my mare bred to him he died of Colic... she's the last of his foals, last to be born, and I'm buying her for $500... it's a LOVE THING....lol
