It wouldn't matter if my parents were wealthy, they wouldn't, and I wouldn't expect them to, buy a horse for me.

Dawn, Maegan bought her own horses...she's just saying, if her parents didn't have a farm like that, she'd have never been able to afford 2 of the 4 she got.. because they were bred on their farm. and one was given to her by a friend of her mom's since she didn't have time to spend with him and give him the time and devotion he needed, and she just bought Undies...

I know, I was just telling you... she doesn't expect her parents to buy her horses, she works hard for things, just like us...

No you didn't say that, but it was implied in that message. Like cooltime indicated, she was not handed her horses on a silver platter. She bought them and works to keep them here. That itself is more than many have to do. Not to go too much into it but when she was 6 yrs old she was allowed to work with one horse because he was not being shown at the time and their current employee had greenbroke him (with Maegan on him on a lungline!! I have seen the video!!!). The horse was three years old. That is the only horse the she had to work with up until last year. He has done her well (he is going on fifteen now), but his papers are still not in her name.

Whether a horse is pushbutton or not does not mean it will not be beat, it doesn't make it worth this kind of money. A kid can ride a pushbutton horse and be beaten at the class A level. Yes if you have a nat'l level push button horse it will be worth A LOT of money for a youth or amatuer to ride and show But if it is a really great dependable horse, a real babysitter that was not the quality of a hotter, younger, better bred horse.....guess who will win? And the winner is worth more. Breeding, when planned out correctly comes across in the horses appearance and YES performance. This is not the same as comparing the offspring of racehorses, I myself could not predict how to breed for a racehorse and it is very different.

There was a reason Maegan didn't put these horses on (sry cooltime, I know you didn't want it to work out as a debate!).

This horse itself is a result of a lifetime of breeding, and is worth the money. That is it. If it is one that no one here would pay that for then fine. I myself have voiced my opinion but will reiterate it now: you get what you pay for. He will sell for that price or more, that I am sure of. So this is just one of those topics that we should leave before arabkid has to continue defending her families horses. They have bred for 38 yrs to acheive this horse (and their others but this post is only for one) and they should be commended instead of attacked for that.

Of course, those are my opinions.....

Excuse me? I did not imply any such thing. If you took my post to mean that, then perhaps you see some truth in it that you don't want seen.

I was only clearing up the misconception that I was handed anything on a silver platter.

If I had $10,000, I wouldn't spend that on a horse either. Not when I can search around and find comparable horses for $2,000.

No one assumed you were served anything you didn't work for.

If I was unclear before THERE IS NO TRUTH IN THAT. That is what we (not trying to speak for her but cooltime and I) are trying to convey, if you cannot notice the implications in some of these messages....in this top one it looks as though you are saying he is not worth the money....saying you can find a comparable horse??? that was what I meant when I said they were not being commended for breeding these horses...because then there's people who say they are nothing special. (the bottom message supports that and then saying you need to be willing to put the work into it is one place where it does sound like you are indicating that Maegan would not....that is my own impression and I apoligize if it's not correct but I am simply informing you of the way that it came across....

I get the same impression and would like to add, that you cannot buy a horse for cheap that is "comparable" to a national quality... yes it is possible to buy a horse cheap and it actually GO SOME WHERE.. but I wouldn't think/believe that a $2000 horse would take you to National/International/World Championships...unless by some miracle it changed it's quality.
