Arab gelding for sale-

I'm selling Chief, because I honestly don't have the time and attention to give to him AND my other horse..plus my pasture is only one acre, I'm having a hard time keeping up with managing it!

Price: $800(negotiable to the right home)
Name: Chief
Breed: arabian
Color: chesnut
other markings: two white socks, and a star on his forehead.
height: 14.3 hh
Weight: 900-950(not sure!)
age: 24
registered? he is not.
Location: a city near Portland, Oregon.

Chief is a very sweet horse, that is a perfect kids horse in a place like just in a small pasture, or possibly an arena. I can just pop a five year old on his back, and he tolerates them fine!
But..if you get him out in the open, he needs a more of intermediate to advanced rider because even at 24, he still has bundles of energy and can be hyper. Personally, I absolutely LOVE riding him..his canter is sooo smooth! And I've even jumped him over stuff for fun, and played around with barrels, and he might even be a good gaming horse or something!
My family has owned him for about 8 years, and he hasn't been off our property except for me riding him on my neighbors property...so I honestly don't know how he would be in an arena, but I'm he could get used to anything!
So...if anybody is interested(I'm not sure if this is the best time of year to sell a horse, but I'm going to try to be patient!), please just PM me or post on here, and I'll get back to you a soon as I can!

Thanks!
~Miriam

Edit: He would also be a great endurance trail horse...or something like that! Don't let his age fool you, this boy has it in him!

Where is he located? How tall? registered?

More information would help. Good luck selling him. A good well broke older horse is worth his weight in gold.

While I am sure that he is a wonderful gelding, in all honestly, I doubt your going to find too many people willing to take on a horse of that age.
I personally would worry that the change of homes and his loss of the equine friends that he already has living there with you would be stressful on this grand old gentleman. Moving to a new home and having to reestablish himself in the pecking order can be stressful on these older equines. Even if he does not have other horses at the new home to deal with the pecking order, you then have a older horse who will probably miss the compaionship and security his equine buddys and familer surroundings provided....and that, again, can be very stressful.
As you have said he has now been with you for 8 years and has only been off your property for a short ride next door to your neighbors.
Why not just let him live out what time he has left there with you and in those familer surroundings? I bet he would be a lot happier.

He is your horse and I understand your reasons for selling him...I am just tossing out somethings to think about.

I agree with Sandra. Moving him at that age would only do him more harm then good. I would allow him to live out his days with you and his family.

I agree with you, and am very sad to be selling him...but I just don't have the right facilites/setup and time for 2 horses! It's been really stressful lately!
We don't have much of a place for hay storage, and just a little shed(that needs repair)for both horses to get in out of the rain and wind, and a 1 acre muddy pasture! I want to be able to devote my time to just my mare.
I have considered selling her, but I really want to keep working with her and to maybe someday show with her!
I LOVE both horses, but under the circumstances....
Sorry for a whole long story, but does that make more sense?
